We are not work-from-home, hybrid, or in-office – we are any and all of those options! Deepening social connections and offering shared experiences is a cornerstone of the way we work. We connect as a team at our Team Week experiences four times a year and at our recently established Hub locations - SF Bay Area, NYC Metro Area, NY; Denver, CO; Houston, TX; Calgary, AB; and Toronto, ON.

We are currently looking for candidates located within 60 miles of any of the listed hubs to foster more in-person connections while maintaining our flexible remote culture.

About This Role
As part of Intersect’s Development team, you’ll lead land acquisition efforts for large-scale renewable energy projects, securing the real estate foundations that make our portfolio possible. You’ll manage all aspects of site control—from due diligence through negotiation and closing—while coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders to align acquisition with permitting, financing, and construction. In this role, you’ll build strong relationships with landowners, community groups, and third-party land agents, ensuring projects move forward smoothly while fostering goodwill in the regions where we operate.

Team Overview
The Development team transforms ideas into projects by securing the sites, permits, and partnerships that power Intersect’s clean energy portfolio. We work across functions—including Land, Permitting, Engineering, Finance, and Community Engagement—to advance projects from concept to shovel-ready status. Our work lays the foundation for gigawatt-scale renewable energy deployment. Joining this team means helping deliver the land, approvals, and agreements that make the energy transition possible while growing your expertise in real estate and renewable development.

What You’ll Do

Drive Land Acquisition Strategy
• Lead site control campaigns across multiple projects, managing negotiations and agreements including leases, purchases, easements, and surface waivers
• Oversee third-party land agents to execute acquisition strategies effectively and on schedule
• Research mineral ownership and initiate surface waiver campaigns to clear title and development obstacles

Ensure Project Readiness
• Resolve title and survey matters to support financing and construction
• Maintain land acquisition trackers and provide clear progress reporting across the organization
• Prepare and manage acquisition budgets, ensuring alignment with project needs

Build Stakeholder Relationships
• Engage with landowners and community groups to foster trust and strong long-term relationships
• Work closely with Development and Permitting teams to align land acquisition with permitting timelines and constraints
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Legal and Finance to close site control agreements efficiently

Support Long-Term Growth
• Provide ongoing expertise and support to the Head of Land and broader Development team
• Influence counterparties and stakeholders to adhere to deadlines and project schedules
• Participate in advancing land acquisition best practices for renewable energy development at scale

What You’ll Bring
• A bachelor’s degree in real estate management, finance, economics, or a related field—or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of real estate development or acquisition experience, with at least 3 years closing renewable energy land transactions (fee acquisitions, option exercises, leases, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of standard land acquisition terms across multiple markets for solar and/or wind projects
• Experience with mineral rights research and acquisition of surface right waivers or associated agreements
• Proven skill in negotiating complex real estate agreements with clarity and precision
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence counterparties and move deals forward
• Independent, self-directed work style with demonstrated success in fast-paced and entrepreneurial environments
• Familiarity with land and environmental law, policy, and mineral interests
• Proficiency with Google Earth and GIS software
• Experience working with local, state, and federal agencies is a plus
• Willingness to travel up to 35% to project sites and stakeholder meetings
• A passion for renewable energy development and building lasting partnerships with landowners
