About This Position

Our Finance team is hiring a Director, Market Risk to oversee the operations of the Risk Team and directly contribute to the risk management processes and tools of the Team. The Director, Market Risk will assist in the back-end and front-end development, maintenance and monitoring of critical risk management infrastructure, including: 1) the VaR / CVaR reporting methodology and dashboard, 2) risk policies, monitoring, and associated reporting and 3) in-house / proprietary power forward curves development.

The role will work closely with Origination & Trading/Operations and will report to the VP of Risk.

Responsibilities & Duties

    • Ongoing development of the VaR & risk management platform
    • Develop & maintain proprietary power and gas curves using machine learning/regression
    • Monitor risk limits against risk management policies
    • Report VaR and risk limit status to Executive Team and/or investors 
    • Monitor MTM of assets and report values 
    • Work with Structured Origination on pricing of derivative (Options, swaps) & hourly shaping 

Qualifications & Skills

    • Superior front-end and back-end Python programming skills
    • Fluency in Pandas, NumPy, SK-Learn, Statsmodels, Scipy, Dash / Plotly
    • Advanced knowledge of time-series modeling and stochastic processes
    • Practical understanding of VaR, MVaR and Expected Shortfall / CVaR
    • Working knowledge of machine learning models
    • Experience working on / with trading teams
    • Commercially-minded, understanding the nature of business/revenue generation
    • Solid understanding U.S. power and gas markets
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • 10+ years of experience in a quantitative role
    • 3-5 years experience managing a risk team
    • Experience building and monitoring a Monte Carlo VaR platform preferred
    • Masters Degree in quantitative discipline preferred

Salary & Benefits

    • Salary: USD$160,000 - $170,000 or CAD$216,704 - $230,248 base salary with 30% - 40% annual target bonus
