About This Position
Our Specialist, Power Origination will be a key team member of the broader Origination and Trading group, supporting the marketing and origination activities of the Power Origination group.  This includes conducting market research, developing business cases and strategies, and supporting the sales/origination, negotiation and closing of long-term renewable energy contracts. This position will report directly to the Director, Power Origination  and work closely with Strategy, Business Development, and the Project Development teams. This position will be deeply involved in identifying new customer opportunities, managing existing customer relationships, team organization, deliverable development, and structuring power off-take agreements.  

Overview of Trading & Origination Team
The team currently has fifteen employees and is responsible for the sales/structuring/execution of power product agreements for the project pipeline as well as the trading/optimization of the operating fleet to manage merchant energy exposure. 

Responsibilities and Duties

    • Support and execute on Intersect Power’s power off-take strategy 
    • Work with the modeling teams to value proposed off-take transactions in Project models 
    • Lead/Support the RFP responses, proposal creation, structuring, negotiation and execution of solicitations and financeable transactions with target customers
    • Act as an SME for power products & markets
    • Support and grow power offtake customer base across CAISO
    • Lead/Support research initiatives to grow our platform
    • Develop, organize, and deliver critical deliverables for internal and external audiences

Qualifications and Skills

    • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Finance, Economics, engineering, or other relevant degree.
    • Minimum of 1-4 years of experience in Renewables, Investment Banking, or Management Consulting.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong track record of sharing and coordinating information across a diverse project team and developing deliverables and marketing materials.
    • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work across departments and with external counterparties
    • Ability to work independently, as a part of a team, and on multiple parallel tasks/projects. 
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, iterative, entrepreneurial environment.
    • Expert proficiency in Excel
    • Passionate about the energy industry and fighting climate change

Physical and Sensory Requirements

    • Mostly sedentary work; using standard office equipment including: a computer, keyboard, and telephone. 
    • Position is part of a remote team, with regular electronic and video communication

Salary & Benefits

    • Salary: USD$80,000 - $95,000 with a base salary with 20-30% annual target bonus
