About This Position
Intersect Power currently owns, operates, and markets a portfolio comprising 2.2 GW of PV and 2.4 GWh of co-located BESS capacity in CAISO and ERCOT. Multiple new PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) assets are currently in development and scheduled to begin operations in the next few years. This includes the addition of co-located energy loads (e.g., high performance computing, hydrogen, ammonia, and other clean fuels). 
Within the Origination and Trading department, the Pricing and Valuation team’s main goal is to improve performance by providing analytical support for originators and traders. We are hiring a Senior Manager, Pricing & Valuation to develop, maintain, and optimize power flow based tools that support the marketing of our growing portfolio. Specifically, we are looking for a candidate with experience in leveraging power flow models to create, implement, and optimize risk-adjusted marketing and trading strategies (e.g., virtuals/contingency trades, BESS optimization, CRRs, options, and swaps).

Responsibilities And Duties

    • Lead the selection and implementation of a power flow model to support short- to medium-term trading activities;
    • Develop automated workflows–leveraging power flow model results–to improve trading outcomes;
    • Support the development of strategies that optimize the marketing performance of our BESS fleet;
    • Lead the development of data support and automation tools (e.g., dash enterprise, Power BI, etc.) in coordination with our trading and origination teams;
    • Working collaboratively with traders and our Risk Department, develop and propose trading strategies and products that align with our core strategy to improve performance;
    • Advocate for and apply ModelOps/DevOps best practices in documenting, backtesting, and maintaining our team’s growing code base and model repositories.

Qualifications And Skills

    • Passion and curiosity for optimizing and marketing renewable energy;
    • Advanced knowledge of electricity & gas markets and trading. Experience in ERCOT and/or CAISO is preferred;
    • Advanced experience in configuring, automating, and maintaining power flow models and demonstrated ability to apply in a trading environment (e.g., DAYZER, Plexos/Aurora, PROMOD);
    • Advanced knowledge of optimization techniques related to the creation of risk-adjusted return strategies;
    • Demonstrated proficiency with Python programming (i.e., fluency in Pandas, NumPy, SK-Learn, Statsmodels, Scipy, Dash/Plotly);
    • Knowledge of Power BI or other equivalent reporting platforms;
    • Knowledge of time-series modeling and stochastic processes;
    • Knowledge of SQL is required; 
    • Familiarity with Trade Capture Systems and Google’s Cloud Platform is preferred;
    • Experience working in a trade floor environment;
    • Commercially-minded with an understanding nature of business/revenue generation;
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
    • 8+ years of experience in a quantitative role;
    • Graduate degree in a quantitative discipline is preferred.

    • Salary: USD$150,000- USD$ 160,000 base salary with 20-40% annual target bonus
