We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Product Manager to oversee the Data stream of a substantial digital programme delivering new digital banking experiences for corporate and institutional users. This is a pivotal role on our team and will take a leading role in how data managed, interpreted, and leveraged to enhance digital services for our client. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise, strategic foresight, and deep data management insights to fundamentally transform and uplift the data capabilities of our banking clients.
Responsibilities:
- Data Strategy Leadership: Lead the development and execution of the data strategy for the programme, ensuring it aligns with the broader business goals and overall transformation objectives.
- Data Management: Take charge of organizing, collecting, and overseeing the flow of data across various platforms in alignment to the overall programme backlog. Ensure the integrity, security, and efficient processing of data.
- Data Product Backlog Management: Prioritize and maintain the data product backlog, ensuring that all items are clearly described, prioritized, and aligned with the product strategy. This includes defining user stories and acceptance criteria for data features and analytics capabilities.
- Technical Proficiency: Display a solid understanding of software systems, protocols, and APIs. Grasp the intricacies of data movement between applications, including data structures, types, and management practices.
- Data Governance and Quality: Collaborate with data governance teams to establish standards and policies for data quality, privacy, and security. Ensure that data products adhere to these standards and that data is accurate, accessible, and secure.
- Collaboration and Coordination: Act as the primary liaison between the business, IT, and data teamsfor the data decisions on the programme. Engage with stakeholders across the organization to identify their needs and facilitate communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive data-driven decisions and innovations.
- Detailed Product Deliverables: Produce detailed product documentation, such as data flow diagrams, data models, data types, data mapping, transformation logic, and product backlogs. Able to capture and document flows, ideally in IDEF or another structured notation.
- Agile Development: Guide and participate in agile development processes, providing clear direction and priorities for data-related elements. Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of data functionalities and improvements.
- Performance Monitoring: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for data products and implement systems to track and report on these metrics. Use insights from data to make informed decisions about product enhancements and prioritization.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in data management, software development, or Product Management, with a proven track record in managing data streams or initiatives, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.
- Strong understanding of corporate and institutional banking products and services, including Payments, Trade Finance and Treasury Products.
- Strong technical foundation with a good understanding of software systems, data protocols, and APIs.
- Experience in data modelling, analysis, and the management of data across complex systems.
- Proficiency in SQL is desirable. This includes the ability to write complex SQL queries for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis, supporting the development and optimization of data products.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Proficient in agile methodologies and principles.
- Strategic thinker with the capability to lead data initiatives that drive innovation and growth.
