The Role:
The Content team is part of Impact, ION’s in-house communications and marketing agency. Impact is a multidisciplinary team of content, design, digital marketing, events, media, video, and web specialists. The Impact Content team oversees the content components of all communications across ION. Our job is to support Impact’s mission to present ION at its best through effective messaging, crafted for the diverse media channels selected to reach our identified audience segments.
As a professional thought leadership content specialist, you’ll ensure the timely preparation of high-quality, accurate content to support all areas of ION, working collaboratively with other Impact teams to ensure a holistic approach. You will also provide expert advice, guidance, and support on thought leadership content to maximize the impact of our communication efforts in this area.
Use your command of language, journalist skills, and knowledge of ION’s audience segments to conceptualize, research, write, and edit works, including (but not limited to) white papers, eBooks, brochures, thought leadership articles, and blogs.
You will conduct extensive research, both within and outside of ION, that may involve perusing data to find a story within it. Your research work will include conducting interviews, reading transcripts, evaluating data sets, and compiling information.
Key Responsibilities
- Researching, writing, and self-editing content for ION’s high-impact content for various formats. (Key focus areas: asset management, cleared derivatives, equities, foreign exchange, fixed income, and secured funding).
- Translating complex material and industry jargon into linear, engaging content.
- Liaising with external and internal contributors and SMEs to produce high-quality assignments, incorporating relevant feedback.
- Ensuring the type of content and writing style is appropriate for the format and the target audience.
- Ensuring consistency and compliance with the ION tone of voice and messaging across all content, verifying accuracy, relevance, quality, and purpose.
- Ensuring that the content aligns with ION’s brand positioning and editorial standards.
- Contributing actively to content planning and strategy, supporting our content strategist.
- Collaborating with multiple teams in Impact (for example, marketing operations, brand and design, social media) to see all content through from ideation to execution. This includes ensuring all necessary stakeholders review and approve the content and finished product.
- Working to develop your content skills independently and through our internal continuing education offerings.

Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Required
- Bachelor’s or post-graduate degree in English, marketing, communications, media, journalism, or equivalent experience.
- 5–10 years’ experience as a professional writer or journalist, producing high-impact content for various communication channels and audiences (preferably in an agency, technology OR newsroom environment). This would include originating or editing content, as appropriate.
- Experience in the financial industry or financial technology for the capital markets.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong editorial skills, and attention to detail, contributing to impactful communications.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, handling multiple assignments simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Able to work both individually and in a collaborative, team-based environment.
- Desire to work in a fast-paced, high-volume, deadline-oriented environment.
- A problem solver with sound critical thinking skills, use personal and professional initiative when delivering editorial projects.
- Comfortable and confident in collaborating with SMEs, including interviewing senior stakeholders.
- Flexibility and willingness to help and support colleagues on tasks.
- Experience in managing and developing diverse teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
- Applicants who provide relevant writing samples will be preferred.
