Founded in 1919 and headquartered in Italy, IRCA is a leading international provider of semi-finished ingredients for the bakery, pastry and gelato markets, serving independent producers as well as large food manufacturers (e.g. CPG). Core products include chocolate, chocolate decorations, creams, pastry mixes, gelato ingredients, and other bakery / pastry ingredients.
The Company was acquired by Advent International, the global Private Equity firm, in July 2022, and has a strong track record of growth over the last decade.
Since being acquired by Advent, the company has completed 3 acquisitions: Cesarin (specialist in candied and semi-candied fruits), Anastasi (leader in Pistachio value added ingredients), and most recently, through its controlling shareholder, the Sweet Portfolio of Kerry Group (“Kerry Sweet”, leader in Toppings & Inclusions and other Value-added ingredients across Europe and North America).
The Group distributes its products across more than 100 countries and runs 23 production facilities in Europe, US and Vietnam. Over 2,400 employees contribute every year to launching innovative products tailored to the latest industry trends, supplying a wide range of unique solutions to customers globally.

Reporting to:

    • (direct Manager) - Site based Plant Manager (Site Manager)
    •  (indirect, cluster) Regionally based HSE Lead

Business Level:

    • Middle Management

Position Location:

    • Tilburg, Netherlands – some infrequent travel to other sites may be required

Language Skills:

    • Fluent Dutch and English

Position Purpose:

    • To continue to develop and manage the sites compliance to the culture of ‘Safety First’
    • To coach and develop team members of all functions to enable them to work in a safe manner
    • To create long-term processes that support and encourage the forward-thinking aspect of safety
    • To lead the site through audits, inspections and compliance reviews with the support of other functions
    • To work effectively with other HSE teams at other sites, to ensure continuity throughout our locations

Professional Skills & Education:

    • IOSH Managing Safety – or country equivalent
    • Effective use of Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint
    • Experience working with ISO 45001, ISO14001
    • Country knowledge of EHS regulation and legislation
    • Previous experience of working in Food Industry
    • Self-motivated, structured professional person
    • Effective communicator
    • Ability to train/coach others with different learning styles

Desirable:

    • NEBOSH Diploma in Health & Safety – or country equivalent
    • Degree in manufacturing related subject / safety related subject

Role Objectives & Responsibilities:

    • Ensure that best practice and statutory obligations are fully met to continue with the safety culture
    • Implement and continually manage the ISO 14001 and 45001 management systems
    • Advise Plant Manager and wider team on relevant HSE information
    • Report data, KPI’s and action plans to stakeholders, both on-site and off-site
    • Conduct and support the investigations into non-conformances, near misses and observations to enable a preventative action plan to be implemented.
    • Ensure all employees are competently trained to the pre-determined level
    • Support site with projects, focusing on health, safety and environment
    • Support and develop energy improvements to drive environmental targets
    • Develop and create Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and policies, relating to safety & the environment
