Purpose of Position
- To assist new product development that meet company/customer requirements and can be incorporated into the product portfolio.
- To develop improvements, new applications and/or variants of existing products.
Description of Main Activities/Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing new concepts for products and processes, testing technical feasibility
- Assist in determining required product properties in collaboration with (process technologist) and production team
- Exploring and proposing new production techniques
- Testing existing and new ingredients, materials and tooling/equipment
- Assist in developing prototypes, samples for assessment, approval and benchmarking
- Helping to design and test new tooling (e.g. molds, tools) and processes
- Constantly checking if products meet company/customer, QA and legal requirements
- Helping to analyze and optimize the quality and efficiency of the production process, ensuring quality and product safety
- Supporting other departments with solving technical / product-related issues
- Defining (N)PD forms for product definition and transfer to operations
- Briefing production on (new) product features and production requirements
Requirements:
- Good understanding of chocolate, coloring, production processes and techniques
- Able to work in a team and willing to share
- Independent thinker with courage to test and internally propose new ideas
- Flexible and perseverant
- Out of the box mentality
- Positive minded, proactive and able to record technical data’s and produce reports
- Ability to accurately complete documentation, e.g. (N)PD forms, testing results, etc.
- Advanced English in speech and writing
- Good computer skills, mainly Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to understand and work with NPD and chocolate equipment / tooling / machines
- Good mathematical skills
- Familiar with recipes and ingredients as well as the accurate measurement of ingredients
- Understanding of market & consumer trends and company / customer requirements
