ispace technologies U.S. is looking for Global Trade Director who will oversee and enhance ispace strategy, and provide operational leadership and expertise, to ensure compliance with all import and export regulations and licensing requirements for U.S., Japan, and Luxembourg operations in the alignment of global trade management. Trade Management/Export Control/Compliance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Function as an import/export authority for programs and operations, providing analyses of governmental import/export regulations (ITAR/EAR), laws and requirements and interpretation with specific or general reference pertaining to the Space business.
    • Conduct a risk assessment based on domestic and economic conditions and regulatory trends.
    • Establish a management system for security trade management.
    • Implement procedures and measures based on these regulations and rules for operations.
    • Establishment of governance system: design of organizational structure, definition of roles and responsibilities, response to violations, etc.
    • Development of trade management policy: formulation of export control regulations and manuals for export control procedures.
    • Review export control procedures, process for determining applicability, internal control of shipment management and contractor management.
    • Create training policy, planning, implementation and monitoring processes. Lead, motivate, mentor and train space program personnel responsible for international activities through effective communication and teamwork.
    • Document management: storage of export control vouchers and consideration of electronic storage.
    • Information system and infrastructure development: establishment of information sharing mechanisms and systemization of screening procedures.
    • Conduct and report on internal audits of export control systems.
    • Implementation and compliance of global trade management policy: understand global trade management policy and implement necessary measures in Japan. Inform trade compliance to PIC of global trade management and collaborate/coordinate as a part of global trade management.
    • Other duties as assigned

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor/Masters Degree or combination of equivalent experience and education degree. We will consider an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
    • 10-15 years in advising multinational businesses on trade compliance matters, including Japan/US/European export controls, inclusive of International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), as well as sanctions programs .
    • Ability to collaborate with teams as well as over international boundaries, and to collaborate with and coordinate activities with outside counsel, as needed
    • Strong professional relationship-building and communication skills
    • Demonstrated success working at all levels within an organization to achieve measurable results
    • Subject matter expertise with non-US export and import regulatory regimes (including Japan, EU and others)
    • Experience in government relations and trade strategy deployment
    • Excellent writing skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 10+ years of related ITC Experience
    • International Trade Compliance certification
    • Project Management experience or education
    • Established background/experience and/or ability to make technical determinations related to the export of data and hardware.  

COMPENSATION and BENEFITS:

    • Competitive salary based upon experience - $185,000 - $205,000. The salary range posted is a targeted range for budget of position.  Base compensation can be negotiated and will be commensurate with experience, skills, education, and training.
