The successful Staff Accountant will have the vision, both strategic and tactical, to be a hands-on part of creating a best-in-class accounting department, supporting not only the firm’s current needs but helping to shape the future state of the firm’s accounting structure; policies, and practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the General Ledger (GL) Chart of Accounts, supporting the budgeting process and ensuring compliance with accounting standards for both commercial and government contracts.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, identifying best practices for accurate and insightful reporting.
- Oversee the company’s credit card expense system, ensuring all expenses are reviewed and processed according to company policies.
- Assist with internal and external audit activities, providing necessary documentation and support.
- Manage daily accounts payable, accounts receivable, and transactional data to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare and review the monthly prepaid expense reconciliations.
- Oversee the company’s timekeeping system, verifying that employee hours are entered accurately and on schedule.
- Assist with other month-end and quarter-end close activities as required.
- Support accounting and finance team members in meeting deadlines and accomplishing team goals.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, finance, or business-related field. We will consider a combination of education and equivalent experience
- 2-5 years previous Staff Accountant experience centered around or including experience with the General Ledger
- Experience with Quickbooks, Excel (including pivot tables)

$80,000 - $100,000 a year
