At ispace U.S., we’re not just going to the Moon—we’re redefining how we get there. Our missions push the boundaries of human and robotic exploration, driven by our belief: “Expand our Planet. Expand our Future.” By providing cost-effective lunar transportation, we are pioneering a future where space is within reach for scientific discovery, commercial ventures, and sustainable exploration.

With locations in Japan, Luxembourg, and the United States, ispace is rapidly growing and leading the way in lunar exploration and development. Our U.S. branch is based in Englewood, Colorado, and focuses on high-capacity payload lunar landers designed to support future lunar missions. Our team is made up of innovators, problem-solvers, and visionaries committed to making space more accessible and fostering the next generation of space exploration.

Let’s go to the Moon together! Our team is growing, and we are actively seeking talented individuals who share our passion for space.

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will lead the end-to-end system verification and validation (V&V) effort for our Lunar Lander Program. This role will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive V&V strategy to ensure all mission requirements are met through rigorous integration, testing, analysis, and verification activities across the entire system lifecycle. The successful candidate will interface with multidisciplinary teams across systems, subsystems, mission operations, and external stakeholders to ensure full system readiness for lunar operations.

Key Responsibilities

    • Lead development of the Lunar Lander System Verification & Validation Plan in accordance with program requirements, NASA standards, and customer expectations.
    • Define and manage verification objectives, verification methods (test, analysis, inspection, demonstration), and verification success criteria across all levels: subsystem, system, and mission-level.
    • Establish and maintain the Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM) and manage traceability from requirements to verification activities.
    • Coordinate integration and test (I&T) campaigns, including hardware/software integration, interface verification, environmental testing, and mission simulations.
    • Serve as V&V lead during design reviews, test readiness reviews (TRR), and mission readiness reviews (MRR).
    • Develop test plans, test procedures, and test reports for system-level verification events.
    • Support anomaly resolution, failure investigations, and root cause analysis during V&V execution.
    • Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Quality & Mission Assurance, Mission Operations, and customer teams to ensure all V&V requirements are met.
    • Develop and maintain verification metrics, compliance reporting, and program status documentation.
    • Contribute to risk management, providing V&V perspective on risk identification, mitigation planning, and contingency development.
    • Support verification of cross-program interfaces, including ground systems, relay satellites, and mission control interfaces.
    • Participate in flight readiness assessments and certification of flight hardware and software for lunar mission deployment.

Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
    • 8+ years of experience in systems engineering with direct experience in system verification and validation.
    • Demonstrated experience leading end-to-end V&V on complex aerospace systems, preferably spaceflight hardware.
    • Strong understanding of requirements verification methods, test planning, and verification traceability tools.
    • Experience with integration & test campaigns, environmental testing, and interface verification.
    • Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills; able to interface effectively with technical teams, program leadership, and customers.
    • Proficient in requirements management tools and configuration management environments (e.g., DOORS, Jama, Jira, Windchill, or equivalent).

What Makes You Stand Out

    • Experience with software verification, autonomy, and integrated software/hardware system testing.
    • Prior experience supporting NASA programs, contractors, or lunar exploration initiatives.
    • Familiarity with agile environment methodologies and startup environment.
