JOB SUMMARY:
We are now looking for the brightest minds to build the future of entertainment with us. As a User Researcher, you will partner closely with designers, product management, and engineers to define and create new experiences for JioHotstar. We carry out a wider range of product and design/ UX research projects with evaluative and generative research, both. We also contribute to efficiency, effectiveness and other areas of business and company objectives that makes our work diverse and impactful.
As a Mixed Methods UX Researcher, you will play a central role in shaping user experiences across our portfolio of live sports, movies, and original content. This is a senior role for a researcher who is as comfortable running deep field interviews as they are with SQL, Python, or survey statistics. You will drive end-to-end research projects that blend qualitative and quantitative methods to influence product vision and strategy.
ABOUT THE TEAM:
Design is integral to shaping the user experience at JioHotstar. We have 3 major areas of focus - Product Design, UX Research, and Systems & Standards. We are a closely-knit team of 30 people at the moment, who work across the spectrum of design from deriving insights from data, designing interfaces and prototypes, and testing with users to motion graphics and illustrations.
REPORTING TO: Group UXR Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead end-to-end research projects using a combination of qualitative (e.g., IDIs, contextual inquiry, diary studies) and quantitative (e.g., large-scale surveys, log analysis, A/B testing) methods
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, Engineers, and Analysts to prioritize research and align it with product development cycles and roadmaps
- Frame research questions, define success metrics, and triangulate user needs with business goals and behavioral data
- Drive research operations from participant recruitment to synthesis, ensuring timely delivery in a fast-paced setting
- Translate complex user behaviors into actionable insights and present them in clear, compelling ways—storyboards, decks, dashboards, or workshops
- Support junior researchers or cross-functional partners with methodological guidance, particularly for mixed-method or quantitative-heavy projects
- Contribute to and refine internal UXR frameworks, toolkits, and best practices
- Stay plugged into evolving research methods and tools to bring innovation into how we do research at scale
SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS:
- 5-7 years of experience in UX or applied product research, with a demonstrable mix of qualitative and quantitative projects
- Deep familiarity with both generative and evaluative research methods
- Strong command of research design, statistical tools (e.g., R, SPSS, Python, SQL), and survey platforms
- Experience working in data-rich, consumer-facing digital products, ideally in media, gaming, or content platforms
- Proven ability to drive strategic conversations and influence product thinking at all stages
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Portfolio/case studies showcasing mixed-method projects, ideally including impact metrics or behavioral data triangulation
- Experience with media consumption, sports fandom, or entertainment platforms
- Familiarity with instrumenting UX metrics, such as SUS, NPS, CEQ, or other frameworks
- Exposure to visual storytelling or motion/video workflows
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Graduate/Masters degree in Psychology, HCI, User Experience, Cognitive Science, Anthropology, or related fields
