The mission of the Performance & Data Analytics Engineer is to serve as JMA’s expert/lead regarding Performance Engineering & Network Optimization and provide the Company with a deep understanding of Radio Access Network (RAN) Performance Metrics (PM), the individual counters that make up formulas for Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and Key Capacity Indicators (KCI).  The role will develop an overall Performance Program including identification of automation tool requirements, additional counter requirements, JMA standards, and operating processes for the newly formed function.

This role will be enhanced by experience in RF design, walk test data analysis, IP networking and core functionality that will assist internal and external teams with troubleshooting and optimization efforts.  The role will be well versed in performance studies of various environments such as indoor, outdoor, high-capacity venues and labs in the FR1 and FR2 ranges.

Position Responsibilities and Results:

The Performance & Data Analytics Engineer will review and analyze 4G and 5G performance metrics and individual counters that make up formulas for KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and KCIs (Key Capacity Indicators) to assess the health of RAN systems and achieve optimal performance.  

Responsibilities will include:

    • Institute Performance Data – Define performance data (performance measurements and KPIs) to ensure contractual KPI’s have been met or identify trends/issues that may require corrective action, such as adjusting physical installation or parameter settings. 
    • KPI Analysis – Periodically analyze Key Performance Indicator (KPI) trends to identify performance-related issues, such as drops, mobility problems, attachment issues, or throughput.
    • KPI Reports – Collaborate in the development and compilation reports for internal and external stakeholders and develop an accessible web interface to allow customers to view and query the performance of their network.
    • RAN Planning – Work together with the Design Engineering Team during RAN planning efforts.  Establish best practices and recommended configurations for RAN configuration items including, but not limited to, PCI assignment, PRACH configuration, mobility configuration, and cell selection settings.
    • Data Collection and Testing – Collaborate in authoring of proper testing methods and tools for data collection services.
    • Troubleshooting – Provide escalated support to JMA Technical Support Center or customers troubleshooting performance issues, which may include parameter adjustments, RF design changes or other optimization measures.

Qualifications:

    • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or equivalent degree
    • 7+ years technical experience in the telecom industry, specifically in Network Performance and Data Analytics
    • Expert analytical troubleshooting skills
    • Deep Technical understanding of Telecom networks and end to end system performance requirements
    • Ability to travel up to 35% of the time
$120,000 - $160,000 a year

The US national annual base salary for this role is $120,000-$160,000. The range includes the base salary that is expected to be paid for this role. Actual base salary will be based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the of scope and complexity of the role, the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, peer and market data and geographic location.
