Reporting to the CFO, this is a “hands on” position with direct responsibility for daily accounting and Accounts Payable (A/P) functions. On an ongoing basis, this position will work with internal and external individuals to maintain current financial operations, month-end close, as well as manage the General Ledger functions.  This position will also play a key role in the planning and implementation of various new systems, procedures and vendor relationships for a rapidly evolving genomic-based biotechnology start-up operation located at a beautiful new facility mid-way on the Peninsula. 

You Will:
·      Complete monthly/quarterly close process to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
·      Book all journal entries and prepare balance sheet reconciliations
·      Prepare financial statements and monthly reporting packages, currently in Intacct
·      Prepare entries for revenue recognition
·      Prepare entries for cost of revenue, allocating for direct, indirect and overhead expenses
·      Enter and code A/P invoices into Bill.com prior to routing for approvals
·      Ensure all routine AP duties and month end close processes are completed timely and accurately
·      Manage bi-monthly payroll and benefits functions (ADP, cloud-based portals)
·      Manage the employee reimbursement system (Tallie) and ensure compliance with Travel and Expense Policy
·      Manage fixed assets (assess capitalization verses operating expense for new additions and physical fixed asset counts)
·      Manage the accurate filing of 1099’s, Use Tax filings, as well as staying current on all applicable tax laws
·      Review, maintain and suggest modifications, as appropriate, to the current processes and procedures
·      Interact extensively across the organization with respect to business operations
·      Actively participate in implementation of various new systems and building out functionality/reporting in existing systems  
·      Complete other duties and projects as assigned
You Bring:
·      A minimum of 5 years experience in accounting and financial reporting at a supervisory level
·      B.S. / B.A. Degree in accounting, or equivalent
·      CPA preferred
·      Understanding of stock based compensation ASC 718 and revenue recognition ASC 606
·      Experience working with cloud based ERP systems, preferably Intacct
·      An ability to multitask, prioritize, work independently and meet multiple deadlines as required while still maintaining quality of work
·      An ability to interface effectively at all levels of the organization and work as part of a team
·      A demonstrated ability to think strategically about the role of finance and accounting in supporting the company’s strategy
·      First rate interpersonal skills and responsiveness to others
·      Experience in diagnostics, biotechnology or life sciences
