A Day in the Life of our Wireless Network Engineer  
Our Wireless Network Engineer is responsible for supporting multiple clients on a daily basis with all aspects of logical infrastructure including but not limited to wired and wireless networks, routers, firewalls, and local/remote cloud. Challenges you might face in this role are distance support, organization and documentation. This role does provide continuous learning on new and legacy hardware and infrastructure services.

Responsibilities

    • Devise, plan, deploy, and improve wireless networks from the beginning to implementation by collaborating with vendors, managers, and network engineers.
    • Use tools to evaluate to test and tweak wireless products, such as routers, switches, hubs, bridges, virtual private networks (VPNs), and network amplifiers, among others.
    • Manage project tasks including wireless RF site surveys (both predictive and on-site), spectrum analysis, wireless network system installation and configuration, RF coverage verification, and/or network troubleshooting
    • Identify, diagnose, and resolve wireless network communication issues
    • Make recommendations for wireless network optimization, additions, and upgrades to meet the customer’s requirements
    • Provide documentation so that any member of the network team can support and troubleshoot wireless network issues
    • Optimize wireless network performance by addressing network problems and breakdowns, and partnering with network engineers to optimize the network
    • Provide Root-Cause analysis, contributes to the knowledge base, and provides recommendations for continuous improvements to workflow, process and technology
    • Work closely with our Network Engineers and Software Developers to automate network deployment and operations
    • Drive operational excellence projects to improve network performance and reliability
    • Troubleshoot complex problems and develop innovative solution

Qualifications and Skills

    • 7 - 10 years of design, implementation, and operational experience in enterprise wireless networks
    • Advanced skills in 2.4 and 5GHz analysis, mapping and troubleshooting in large environments 
    • Expert knowledge of LAN / WAN / WLAN, Wireless security such as WPA (2-3), RADIUS
    • Deploying and managing monitoring systems (ie Zabbix, New Relic, Prometheus) preferred 
    • Diverse experience with Client VPN solutions. OpenVPN is preferred
    • Knowledge of cloud networking technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure)
    • Strong consultative skill set to include communications with varying levels of customer personnel as well as the ability to identify and help close new opportunities within existing clients
    • Extensive knowledge of Meraki wireless networks highly preferred 
    • Experience with  routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS,EIGRP) preferred
    • Understanding of switching  protocols (LLDP, LACP, MLAG) 
    • Experienced in network services  (DHCP, DNS, SNMP) 
    • Multi-tasking and Time Management Skills; thrives in a fast-paced, changing environment where deadlines are essential
    • JNCIS, JNCIP, JNCIE, CCNP, CCIE knowledge highly preferred
