The Payroll Clerk is responsible for assisting with processing payroll.  Ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. This position will be the point person on assist with making suggestions for keeping the payroll function current to regulatory changes. The Payroll Clerk will have an impact on a rapidly growing organization helping to ensure that all employees are paid timely. This position supports the organization employment activities, acting on employees’ complaints regarding payroll issues, ensuring compliance with employment laws, administering benefits, and assisting with performance management and training programs. 

Responsibilities

    • Process bi-weekly payroll and ensure maintenance and data integrity of the HRIS system.  Answer employee questions regarding their respective compensation
    • Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
    • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
    • Process manual checks and reconciliations
    • Perform compliances for unclaimed payroll checks
    • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
    • Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors
    • Identify and recommend updates to payroll procedures, software and systems
    • Maintain confidential employee records
    • Stay current on trends and human resources and payroll topics
    • The Payroll Clerk will assist with any other human resources related tasks as needed
    • The Payroll Clerk will represent Keller Mortgage's mission, vision and values with integrity and professionalism

Qualifications

    • One or more years of experience in a payroll position with a company with 500 or more employees
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, to fellow employees, customers and external vendors in a professional, articulate and respectful manner
    • Demonstrated ability to handle delicate situations with diplomacy and tact
    • Proven experience prioritizing projects based upon business demands and multiple requests from various entities in a fast-paced, high-production, deadline driven environment
    • Proven experience adhering to deadlines and expected delivery dates
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, to fellow employees, customers and external vendors in a professional, articulate and respectful manner
    • Demonstrated ability to handle delicate situations with diplomacy and tact
    • Proven ability to multi-task, and stay organized in an independent environment
    • Possess a passion and desire to continuously improve their style and work productivity  
    • HS Diploma or equivalent; preferred candidates will have a Associate’s degree in Accounting or a related field
