Role Overview:
We are seeking a Release Manager to lead the planning, coordination and execution of enterprise software releases across multiple environments. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end release lifecycle, ensuring smooth and timely deployments with minimal risk and disruption to operations. While the primary focus will be on release management, you will also provide oversight and strategic direction to a QA team, ensuring system integrity, performance, quality and defining and driving test strategies.
Roles & Responsiblities
- Lead end-to-end release management activities across enterprise applications, ensuring on-time delivery, adherence to scope, and quality standards.
- · Own and continuously improve the release pipeline, including scheduling, coordination, risk management, and deployment planning.
- Collaborate with development, product, infrastructure, and business teams to ensure smooth and efficient release cycles.
- Provide leadership in test environment management, test data creation, and release documentation.
- Participate in and contribute to IT budget planning related to release operations and QA resourcing.
- Define QA strategy, standards, and best practices to align with release goals and overall IT strategy
- Manage the QA team responsible for manual and automated testing across all phases of the software development lifecycle.
- Identify and mitigate release risks, issues, and dependencies; drive resolution of issues across cross-functional teams.
- Coach and mentor QA engineers and team leads; promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and high performance.
- Establish clear KPIs for release success, QA effectiveness, defect metrics, and team productivity.
- Manage team capacity, workload distribution, and resource planning based on project priorities and release cadence
Essential Skills
- Demonstrated experience in software release management, ideally within an enterprise application environment.
- Proven experience in test planning, execution, automation, and defect management.
- Deep understanding of Agile and DevOps practices; experience with CI/CD pipelines and release tools (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
- Ability to lead cross-functional efforts and manage multiple releases concurrently.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills; can translate technical details to stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven ability to coach, develop, and lead technical teams.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality software.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to anticipate, identify, and resolve complex issues.
