Nithio is a venture-backed finance and data analytics platform that uses AI and machine learning techniques to improve credit scoring capabilities for businesses, capital providers, governments, and other stakeholders in the distributed renewable energy sector across Africa. The company is currently in rapid growth mode and aims to address the acute need for universal clean energy access on the continent by providing a sustainable infrastructure for capital delivery and by offering state-of-the-art credit underwriting software.

The Head of Capital Formation and Investor Relations will be a key member of the executive leadership team responsible for developing the strategy, framework and tactical roadmap to create and drive a capital formation engine at the company while ensuring the company is strategically well positioned with investors and all stakeholders.  They will need to use sound judgement, problem solving, communication and analytical skills to carefully manage relationships with institutional investors.

The successful candidate will have strong relationship management skills, an ability to translate complex problems into clear frameworks, and an entrepreneurial mindset. This position will perform a range of duties, including, but not limited to, the following:

    • Develop a robust capital formation and investor relations strategy and framework
    • Establish and deepen relationships with current and prospective investors and clients; foster investor confidence and conviction in the company’s vision and strategy
    • Represent Nithio on business related matters, including but not limited to marketing, competitive positioning, product development and strategy
    • Liaise with CEO and functional leads to integrate investor feedback into Nithio’s product development, geographic expansion plans, borrower pipeline, financial structuring and lending documentation to develop and present a coordinated operational plan and strategy to Nithio’s Board and Investors
    • Coordinate and support the development of materials and updates to investors (financial reports, quarterly & annual reports, investor relations decks, newsletters, etc.).
    • Work with legal counsel, finance and operations team to ensure compliance on regulatory matters and ESG
    • Create and manage a strong reputation by demonstrating consistent and clear communication between internal and external parties

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:

    • Bachelor’s, or Master’s in a quantitative field (Business, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering or in a related field)
    • 6-10+ years of work experience in accounting or finance, investor relations or capital raising within financial sales environment
    • Proven track record of sustainable achievement in capital raising; outstanding focus, energy and drive to achieve results
    • Highly entrepreneurial and self-motivated
    • Experience with legal documentation (term sheets, facility agreements, security documents, inter-creditor agreements, shareholder’s agreements)
    • Superior problem solving, judgment, and decision-making skills with the ability to articulate and present points of view and ideas effectively
    • Extensive network of relationships with global institutional investors
    • Excellent presentation skills which enable the delivery of concise and persuasive new business and investment presentations
    • Proven ability to successfully prioritize multiple, competing priorities with strong attention to detail and to advance discrete projects both independently and as part of a small team
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively within a distributed team and investors, board members and multiple stakeholders
    • Ability to mentor, train, and develop team members to support internal team growth
    • Demonstrated interest or previous experience working in Africa and/or emerging markets is preferred but not required
