Summary of Position
We are looking for an Operations Specialist to join the Data Production and Delivery team to start as soon as possible. We want someone who has a keen attention to detail, meticulous work habits, desktop research skills, interest in geospatial machine learning and web-based technology, clear communication skills, and is eager to learn and grow in an exciting company. This role will report directly to a Project Manager (PM) in the Data Production and Delivery (DPD) team.
 
Recruiting steps:
1.     Phone screening call with HR / member of DPD team (30 mins.)
2.     Take part in an online evaluation according to your own availability (~ 1 hr.)
3.     Final interview with a PM or Director of DPD (1 hr.)

You will have a range of responsibilities including the following:

    • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research for new and existing countries in the DPD team’s portfolio
    • Participate in survey design and testing processes.
    • Work with other Ops Specialists, Analysts, and PMs to process R and Python scripts in the machine learning process to generate high resolution geospatial datasets.
    • Upload data to Fraym’s online geospatial data dashboard - DATAfraym ® and configure customer requirements.
    • Work with PMs to document processes, maintain the documentation of the existing processes on Git and Wiki. Write “How To”s and update them for the Fraym internal Wiki and customer facing tools such as Intercom.
    • Suggest improvements to processes to streamline them.
    • Do DATAfraym demonstrations and answer customer questions.
    • ·Attend weekly PM-led strategy and technical meetings.  At these meetings, you will be assigned rotas (tasks with hard deadlines – typically involving a customer deliverable). You will be expected to:
    • Understand the business case for our task priorities,
    • Prioritize the assigned procedures together with the PM,
    • Execute processes from the assigned rotas,
    • Escalate to the PMs when there is an unexpected problem with the procedures.
    • Offer feedback to management on how the Team is being run. 
    • Offer feedback to the management team on how they are doing their job.
    • Support Go-to-Market, Analytics, and Data Science teams as required.

Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Geography, or a STEM field.
    • Some programming experience with Python, R, or some other programming language (coursework or school projects acceptable).
    • Comfortable working in a remote setting and across multiple time-zones – the Fraym team is internationally distributed.
    • Open and clear communicator (verbal and written) – you will be writing Wikis, documenting processes, responding to customer emails, writing FAQs, monthly reports etc.
    • Comfortable communicating through Slack and Zoom.
    • Fast learner, i.e.: you are quick to pick up a workflow and able to work through it independently.
    • Comfortable with Excel and Google Sheets.
    • Ability to collaborate with multiple team members and across teams.
    • Self-motivated and independent but comfortable working with a diverse team.
    • Desire to learn about technical problems and business concepts.

Bonus Qualifications

    • Interested in emerging markets development work.
    • Interest in learning about machine learning, geospatial analytics, and data analytics.
    • Experience or interest in other software such as SQL, JS, CSS, Stata, ArcGIS, QGIS.
