Overview:
KIPP SoCal Public Schools is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Student Enrollment and Recruitment to lead the Student Recruitment and Enrollment team and manage the student recruitment efforts across our twenty schools. The Director of Student Enrollment and Recruitment will be responsible for developing and executing strategic initiatives to attract and enroll a diverse and talented student body. This role requires a visionary leader who can set the direction for the department, manage a team, and collaborate with school leaders and the regional office to achieve enrollment goals.

This role reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

KPIs

    • Goal Achievement Rate: This measures the percentage of strategic objectives or individual performance goals achieved. For this position, this includes applicant and enrollment targets, conversion rates, PD effectiveness and System Issue/Ticket Resolution. 
    • Team Member Retention Rate: The percentage of team members who remain with the school over a given period.
    • Team Member Absence Rate: A high absence rate might suggest a lack of engagement or issues with the workplace environment.
    • Leadership Assessment Score: This measures the effectiveness of school leaders based on feedback from team members and can demonstrate accountability at the leadership level.

Key Responsibilities

    • Strategic Planning and Execution:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive student recruitment strategy that aligns with KIPP SoCal's mission and enrollment goals.
    • Set vision and direction for the Student Recruitment department, with ultimate accountability for the department’s success.
    • Collaborate with school leaders and regional office staff to ensure alignment and support for recruitment initiatives.
    • Analyze enrollment data and trends to inform strategic planning and decision-making.

    • Community Engagement and Outreach:
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, local businesses, and other stakeholders to support recruitment efforts.
    • Plan and execute community engagement events, such as open houses, school tours, and information sessions, to attract prospective students and families.
    • Utilize culturally competent communication skills to engage with diverse communities and ensure inclusive recruitment practices.

    • Marketing and Communications:
    • Oversee the creation and distribution of marketing materials, including brochures, flyers, social media content, and website updates, to promote KIPP SoCal schools.
    • Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to develop and implement targeted marketing campaigns.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing and outreach efforts, making data-driven adjustments as needed.

    • Data Management and Reporting:
    • Track and analyze recruitment data to monitor progress toward enrollment goals and identify areas for improvement.
    • Prepare and present regular reports on recruitment activities, outcomes, and trends to senior leadership.
    • Ensure accurate and timely data entry and management in the student information system.

    • Collaboration and Partnership:
    • Work closely with school leaders, regional office staff, and other departments to ensure a seamless and coordinated approach to student recruitment.
    • Serve as a thought partner to school leaders on recruitment strategies and best practices.
    • Participate in regional and national networks to share knowledge and learn from other successful recruitment initiatives.

    • Team Leadership and People management:
    • Lead, mentor, and manage the Student Recruitment team, including setting performance goals, providing regular feedback, and supporting professional development.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability within the team.
    • Ensure that all team members understand their roles and responsibilities and have the resources and support needed to succeed.

Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in education, marketing, communications, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in student recruitment, marketing, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. A strong background in project management and charter school operations preferred.
    • Proven track record of developing and executing successful recruitment strategies.
    • Experience working in a diverse and inclusive environment (preferably within a school setting), with a strong commitment to equity and access.
    • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate and hold their team accountable to results.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships, engage with diverse communities, and foster family engagement.
    • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to inform decision-making.
    • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
    • Proficient in Google sSuite, CRM systems, and social media platforms.
    • Passionate about KIPP SoCal’s mission, values and anti-racism standards, with a deep commitment to educational equity.

    • Physical Requirements
    • The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands:
    • Must be able to travel to regional office and school sites (Los Angeles + San Diego) - valid driver’s license and dependable transportation needed 
    • Must be able to lift 25 lbs

Compensation

    • KIPP SoCal Public Schools offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position. The salary range for this position is $111,200 to $166,920. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint of $139,100 depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budget allocated for this role.
    • 100% of healthcare premium costs covered by employer, dependents added at 50% of the cost
