Here at Kittyhawk in Palo Alto, we are developing ground breaking all-electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) aircraft.  Project Heaviside is Kittyhawk’s latest high-performance electric VTOL vehicle. It is designed to be fast, small, and exceedingly quiet, taking advantage of new possibilities to free people from traffic. 

We are looking for a Material Handling Associate to apply principles of lean manufacturing to manage materials in support of production of vehicles in the most efficient way possible. You will assist with warehousing, material supply, inventory control, and ERP/MES material transactions.

Within 3 months you will:

    • Learn the parts and processes required to build Kittyhawk products
    • Fully understand our Bill of Materials and Part Master Data
    • Fully understand our inventory and material coverage status
    • Kitting for manufacturing for both our Integration and Composites groups
    • Fully understand receiving processes and tools to receive the materials/parts
    • Flow chart and map all receiving and shipping processes

Within 6 months you will:

    • Fully sustain all shelf life material processes
    • Become an ERP power user through both formal & on-the-job training
    • Implement inventory cycle count processes
    • Develop work material handling and best practice work instructions

Within 12 months you will:

    • Assist in cost-reduction roadmap to reduce the material costs of the Heaviside vehicle
    • Lead all incoming inspection activities

Responsibilities:

    • Receive, store, and supply materials for production activities
    • Utilize the ERP inventory system to properly account for issues, returns, receipts of new materials, and associated back orders
    • Receive in ERP delivered supplies, materials, and equipment.  Confirm that delivered goods match purchase order specifications and distribute materials to their proper location.
    • Manage and control material inventory by executing the inventory cycle count program to ensure high inventory accuracy
    • Work with the Buyer/Planner and/or vendors on order discrepancies, damaged items, returns, and backordered items
    • Organize and maintain warehouse and inventory areas for efficient material storage, handling, and accuracy
    • Warehouse organization, labeling, and packaging management
    • Assist in the development and documentation of processes and procedures for material handling, material transactions, and inventory control
    • Assist with implementing and integrating our ERP/MES system
    • Work with the quality department to execute incoming quality inspection material handling activities
    • Lead and own the MRB weekly review 
    • Work with Accounts Payable to resolve pricing and receipt discrepancies
    • Collaborate with internal teams to continuously improve processes
    • Create work instructions and material handling procedures
    • Ensure proper ERP/MES utilization

Requirements:

    • High school diploma/GED
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products, specifically Excel
    • At least three years of material handling and management experience
    • Experience with ERP systems, particularly executing and tracing material transactions
    • Working knowledge of inventory control and purchasing practices
    • Ability to understand and follow up on buying/planning responsibilities such as requests for quote, order acknowledgement, open order status, delivery tracking, and order expediting
    • The flexibility to work extended hours as needed
    • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis
    • Able and willing to be forklift certified
