Here at Kittyhawk in Palo Alto, we are developing ground breaking all-electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) aircraft.  Project Heaviside is Kittyhawk’s latest high-performance electric VTOL vehicle. It is designed to be fast, small, and exceedingly quiet, taking advantage of new possibilities to free people from traffic. 

We are looking for a Buyer to help manage the purchasing, material planning, and inventory management operations of manufacturing.  You will be responsible for timely processing of Purchase Orders, building supplier rapport and processing RFQs (Request for Quotes).

Responsibilities:

    • Maintain inventory programs quarterly with supply base
    • Review, analyze, process, and expedite MRP (Material Requisition Planning)
    • Manage inventory based on defined goals while developing and maintaining defined inventory levels for purchased and assigned commodities/raw components
    • Partner with inventory controller to analyze and disposition excess and obsolete inventory
    • Monitor supplier performance 
    • Manage lead-time, lot sizes, and supplier liabilities based on defined goals
    • Collaborate with accounting to resolve invoicing and receiving discrepancies
    • Act as a liaison between the suppliers and internal departments to support production
    • Develop and support continuous improvement efforts within the department
    • Perform quality work within deadlines, with or without direct supervision
    • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations
    • Follow company safety policies and procedures

Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience
    • At least (3) years experience in supply chain or purchasing
    • Excellent analytical and judgment skills
    • Experience in Strategic Sourcing, opportunity analysis, and negotiation with highly effective communication skills
    • Extensive experience working with ERP system, including purchasing, material planning, and inventory control modules
    • Experience implementing an ERP and MRP
    • Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment, prioritizing appropriately and handling multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with cross functional teams
    • Demonstrated success leading a team to achieve a difficult goal, especially in a production or manufacturing environment
    • Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally
    • Familiarity with a wide variety of technologies such as PCB assembly, wire harness manufacturer, carbon fiber, bonding, electrical, and avionics assemblies, etc.
