Job Summary

As the Director of Analytics, you will be the most senior person leading company-wide business analytics and responsible for setting the strategic priorities, developing/managing a team and building a data driven culture.  Our company is growing incredibly fast and by unleashing the power of data we know we will go faster and higher.  A genuine passion for data, an insatiable curiosity, and a service-oriented empathetic mindset are the essential building blocks for success in this role.

You will use your broad business background, analytical prowess and technical/statistical acumen to build products that are actually used by stakeholders from top to bottom, inside and out.  We need you to deliver real value with lasting impact. Our goal is to assist all departments in making better, faster and data-driven decisions.  There will be no shortage of interesting questions to answer!  If you dream about cohort analyses, customer segmentation and new ways to measure promotional activities and can also wake up with the ability to teach it to a 5 year old, then this job is for you.

This position reports to the CFO and will have direct reports.  

Your challenge will be...

    • Partner with the executive team and department leaders to identify the key business drivers and develop a company-wide understanding for why these metrics are essential, how they are measured and the levers that be influenced for enhanced success
    • Tell stories with data to non-technical team members so they can execute more effectively
    • Develop the long-term analytics roadmap and set weekly/quarterly priorities
    • Collaborate with sales, marketing, finance, manufacturing and distribution teams as the leader of quantitative analysis
    • Proactively identify opportunities across the company to improve the quality of data collection and refine operational processes that drive scalability and efficiency
    • Bring a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude and build/review BI dashboards, stakeholder tools, and statistical models to support informed decision making at Kiva
    • Recruit, train, manage and support the development of a team of business analysts so they feel challenged and engaged
    • Review code and ensure the quality of team deliverables
    • Track the impact of and improve engagement with Kiva’s data assets
    • Ensure that we are developing proper documentation and a universal data lexicon that will enable other data nerds (departmental power-users) to quickly get up to speed
    • Become the chief data cheerleader and get people hooked on the simple yet powerful ways data can transform their world

What you'll need...

    • Advanced proficiency in  writing SQL including performing time-series analysis, aggregate analysis over large complex datasets, multi-table joins, query optimization, 3NF versus denormalized data storage, CASE and PIVOT syntax, and analytical windows functions
    • Moderate familiarity with R and Python
    • Deep familiarity with the implementation and rollout of business intelligence tools to high growth and dynamic organizations
    • Experience leading a team of analysts and collaborating with data engineers and IT, preferably in a high growth and dynamic company
    • Strong business background (management consulting, investment banking, and/or consumer goods is a BIG bonus)
    • Ability to present complex details in a simple way (including spoken, spreadsheets, or slides)
    • Ability to translate business questions into prioritized functional and technical requirements for other team members
    • Confidence in engaging, presenting and when necessary respectfully challenging senior members of the leadership team
    • An advocate for agile project management methods
