KiwiCo is an innovative e-commerce company that sparks kids’ creativity and curiosity through offline and online materials and inspiration. We offer kids a delightful, engaging way to explore, create, and learn. Our core offering is a subscription service. We design and deliver awesome hands-on projects to kids. We also manage an e-commerce storefront and content platform. We take great pride and ownership in the products we build and in the community of parents and kids we serve. Our office is located in Mountain View, within walking distance to the Caltrain station. Currently, we work a hybrid schedule of Tuesday and Wednesday in-office and remote work the rest of the week.

Our Sr. Content Manager will play a crucial role in defining and executing the editorial strategy while serving as a creative driver and steward of the brand voice for KiwiCo. Our ideal candidate believes that content can be both seriously fun and profoundly enriching for kids and their grownups. We are seeking someone entrepreneurial, energetic, and creative, fueled by a passion for STEM and hands-on learning. This multifaceted position involves creating compelling content, applying consistent brand messaging across all channels, collaborating with cross-functional teams to support products, campaigns and growth, and overseeing editorial initiatives to enhance the company's presence and thought leadership.

Responsibilities:

    • Content Strategy
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy that combines creativity and business acumen and supports marketing and product goals.
    • Set the vision for our digital content, including videos and online material, with the goal of increasing engagement and building connection with our audience. 
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align content initiatives with product launches, campaigns, and industry trends.

    • Content Creation
    • Pitch, ideate and execute content pieces and programs as a skilled storyteller who is brimming with ideas.
    • Produce high-quality, engaging content that can be adapted for various platforms, including website, blog, landing pages, social media, email, and other marketing materials.
    • Define the editorial approach for product-aligned videos that support learning and exploration and add value to the product experience.
    • Direct copy for various platforms (website, social media, email) for brand alignment and effective communication. Ensure that brand and product positioning is clear, on point, and aligns with the intended audience. 
    • Own content emails and develop concepts that drive engagement and clicks.

    • Brand Voice Development & Guidelines
    • Craft and maintain a distinct and cohesive brand voice that resonates with the company's identity, values, and target audience. Maintain comprehensive brand guidelines for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Ensure consistent application of the brand voice across all communication channels and content types.

    • Team Collaboration & Measurement
    • Build resourcing and production plans. Own the delivery of content, including videos, on time, under budget.  
    • Build workflows, processes, and organizational alignment within the creative team.
    • Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing, product, and design, to ensure content is aligned with overall brand and product strategies and measure the performance of content initiatives, including the optimization of engagement.
    • Lead a small team full time team members and a small team of freelancers.

Qualifications:

    • 7+ years of relevant experience managing content programs for consumer brands
    • Proven experience and track record in content creation, editorial management and brand voice development - whether for articles, videos, and/or podcasts
    • Exceptional creative instincts and storytelling, with the ability to simplify STEM concepts for young innovators
    • Excellent editorial/creative judgment and ability to capture KiwiCo’s brand to reach kids and grownups
    • Exceptional player-coach who can lead a lean content production team by example and find opportunities to proactively craft the most impactful content possible
    • Ability to balance business and brand considerations in both big-picture and day-to-day way
    • Confident, collaborative, and communicative problem solver and critical, creative thinker with a desire to thrive in a fast-paced environment
    • Bachelors degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing. And/or Bachelors degree in science or engineering fields. Masters degree is a plus
