Responsibilities

    • Be the key international tax adviser within Klarna’s Legal Entity Design & Creation team, helping to navigate that team’s commercial objectives which could include:
    • Advice on how to structure Klarna’s expansion into new territories
    • Post-acquisition integration and restructuring, to allow acquired companies or businesses to be combined with existing Klarna activities
    • Reviewing and maintaining an efficient group legal entity structure, for example by creating tax consolidations
    • Assisting with establishing and maintaining commercial partnerships such as joint ventures
    • Liquidating surplus entities in order to reduce compliance costs and keep the group structure as simple as needed
    • Support with M&A transactions (reviewing due diligence, structuring and documentation)
    • Identify, evaluate and resolve material tax risks on a timely basis and seek alternative ways to mitigate those risks, managing external tax advisers where necessary to support
    • Ideally based in London or Stockholm, you will interact closely with other tax professionals within Klarna (eg the indirect tax lead)
    • Prepare and present reports to other stakeholders (including executive management) and work collaboratively to solve where conflicts arise in order to achieve a rounded solution

Requirements

    • Minimum 5 years’ of working with international tax issues (3 years post-qualified in the UK market), ideally with experience of technology or other IP-focussed businesses
    • Exposure to the Financial Services industry is advantageous
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills in verbal and written English
    • Strong at working with multiple stakeholders and prioritising numerous concurrent projects
    • Can demonstrate end to end ownership of complex projects with many stakeholders
    • Strong attention to detail and a strong bias toward action
    • An ambitious, proactive team player who feels accountable for the full team delivery and contributes to a great team spirit
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced and agile environment
    • Advanced degree or similar qualification (eg Chartered Tax Adviser, Chartered Accountant) in Tax or Accounting required
