Chest Medicine Associates is seeking a Medical Records Technician, to be based in the South Portland office.  

Requirements of the Medical Records Technician:

    • High school diploma. Associate’s degree preferred.
    • Previous experience in health information management preferred.
    • Understanding of medical terminology. 
    • Proficient computer skills with electronic medical record experience.
    • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
    • Ability to read written documents.
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
    • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work onsite in South Portland, Maine.

Responsibilities of the Medical Records Technician:

    • Prepare patient charts in anticipation of appointment.
    • Retrieve patient medical records for physicians and technicians.
    • Process medical record requests and releases.
    • Receive and scan medical records into electronic medical records.
    • Download PAP therapy data and other reports and upload to EMR.
    • Fax daily completed office notes to referring providers.
    • PFT prep and faxing to PCP & referring provider.
    • Complete billable requests for records.
    • Assist with chart audits.
    • Protect the security of medical records to ensure that confidentiality is maintained.
