Reporting to the CEO, the Human Resources Manager is a critical role for Maine Eye Center. This position leads all human resources activities including recruiting, retention, employee relations, benefits, onboarding, and compliance and is based on-site in Portland, Maine.
Requirements of the Human Resources Manager:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or professional certification such as SHRM
- 5-10 years of progressive Human Resources leadership experience
- Self-starter that can work independently
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Office
- Ability to work onsite in Portland, Maine

Responsibilities of the Human Resources Manager:
- Develop and implement hiring strategies and recruitment and onboarding processes
- Oversee employee relations, addressing grievances, demands, and conflicts
- Develop performance management programs
- Maintain personnel and payroll files
- Coordinate new employee orientations and exit interviewing
- Manage compensation and benefits administration
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations
- Make recommendations and createplans for staff training and professional development
- Establish policies supporting employee wellness and safety
- Cultivate a positive work culture and implement effective retention initiatives
