Portland, Maine (this is a remote/hybrid position; however, must live in Maine) 
 
Maine Connectivity Authority is seeking an Interim Accountant to support the Accounting Manager and Staff Accountants.  This is a remote position with an estimated duration of three months to start, potentially longer. The position will be responsible for supporting MCA’s Accounting activities, including but not limited to general accounting support, balance sheets, reconciliations and analysis, accounts payable and payroll.  

Requirements of the Interim Accountant:

    • 3 to 5 years broad experience in accounting and financial management procedures and practices. 
    • Experience with budgets, audits, and general ledger management  
    • Hands on experience with accounting system/software, proficiency with NetSuite preferred. 
    • Nonprofit accounting and/or grant accounting experience is highly preferred. 
    • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)  
    • Ability to prepare complete and accurate accounting and financial reports and statements. 
    • Ability to analyze and draw conclusions for financial data. 
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks and duties simultaneously and work independently with limited supervision. 
    • Ability to problem solve with a resilient mindset and create innovative solutions. 

Benefits of the Job:

    • Hourly pay in the range of $32.00 - $34.00 
    • Remote/hybrid position (must live within the state of Maine) 

Responsibilities of the Interim Accountant:

    • Account reconciliation, accounts payable, general ledger accounting.  
    • Provide support for payroll and daily receipts responsibilities.  
    • Reconcile, track data, and provide reports for grant accounting.   
    • Manage and adhere to internal controls.  
    • Prepare monthly financial statements. 
    • Ensure compliance with internal procedures and maintain accurate records and ledgers.  
    • Other duties as may be assigned.
