Nurse Practitioner- Pulmonary Medicine

Chest Medicine Associates is seeking a Nurse Practitioner- Pulmonary Medicine, to be based in the South Portland office and report directly to the Physician President/CEO.  

Requirements:

    • Must be licensed as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the State of Maine. 
    • Preferred candidates will have experience in office-based pulmonology, sleep medicine, and/or neurology.   
    • Working knowledge of common problems, including their diagnosis and management, encountered in pulmonology and sleep medicine. 
    • An expanded knowledge base in pulmonology and sleep medicine is expected with progressive clinical experience. 
    • Outpatient/Office/Ambulatory setting preferred. 
    • Must meet or exceed continuing education requirements for licensure. 
    • Certification in Basic Life Support with AED required. 
    • Ability to work 9 hours/day for 2.5-3 days/week

Responsibilities:

    • Evaluates new and follow-up patients in pulmonology and sleep medicine.
    • Orders appropriate diagnostic studies, such as imaging, polysomnography, pulmonary function tests, and laboratory tests.
    • Develops and implements care plans, including treatment and referral as appropriate.
    • Documents the clinical encounter.
    • Provides clinical direction for patients when their physicians are unavailable.
    • Participates in utilization review and prior authorization requests.
    • Supports programmatic development, particularly for complex lung disease.
