Make-A-Wish Maine is seeking a full-time Wish Coordinator, to be based in their Scarborough, Maine location. This position is responsible for the successful design, coordination and management of memorable, unique wish experiences for wish children while upholding and working within established policies and procedures. The Wish Coordinator works closely with all members of Chapter staff, volunteers, and donors to leverage resources and create a positive wish experience that brings hope and joy to all of those involved.
Requirements of the Wish Coordinator:
- BA/BS degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Requires a commitment to and passion for the mission of Make-A-Wish
- Requires ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks efficiently and effectively
- Ability to develop and manage budgets
- Professional demeanor and excellent customer service skills
- Exceptional organizational skills, detail orientation and project management talent
- Ability to respond to rapidly changing situations and crisis management and handle sensitive information professionally while keeping strict confidentiality
- Strong computer literacy skills specifically with Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce database, and internet navigation
- Ability to share responsibility for the chapter’s 24-hour emergency contact system
- Ideal candidate has a social work background or experience working with families and children

Responsibilities of the Wish Coordinator:
- Design, coordinate and plan all specific aspects involved with a wish which includes things such as schedule, reserve and purchase transportation, accommodations, necessary medical equipment, goods and other services from a wide variety of vendors and contractors around the state and beyond
- Work with other chapters, Make-A-Wish America and Make-A-Wish International to plan celebrity, sports, or destination wishes
- Develop wish budgets, utilizing locally and nationally solicited in-kind donations and services when appropriate, and obtain the proper approvals
- Communicate with healthcare professionals, volunteers, and family members to ensure each wish proceeds in the best interest of the child
- Monitor status of wish progression and ensure that each wish proceeds within the time established by the Chapter
- Build relationships and trust with families and be able to have sensitive conversations with families of all backgrounds
- Work in partnership with Chapter volunteers throughout the wish process
- Share responsibility with Mission Delivery team for the chapter’s 24-hour emergency contact system
- Support Chapter events, including participating in mission moments, fundraising events, and other events as needed or requested
- Maintain and manage inventory of Wish Closet
