The Maine Connectivity Authority is seeking a Broadband Infrastructure Director.  The Maine Connectivity Authority (MCA) serves as the primary agency to plan, develop, manage, and invest in broadband in Maine. The MCA is a start-up organization with the need to rapidly scale into a high performing, high impact organization serving as a trusted leader charged with executing a critical public need.

This position can be remote; however, you must either live in and/or be willing to relocate to Maine. 

Reporting to the President, the Broadband Infrastructure Director provides leadership and oversight of the agency’s broadband infrastructure, as well as technical input and perspective on organizational strategy. They will manage of team of 2+ direct reports to meet or exceed MCA’s goals for comprehensive Maine broadband connectivity.

Salary: $125,000 annually


    • Build MCA’s technical operations capacity utilizing both internal staff and external partners
    • Serve as subject matter expert for the leadership team, including internet infrastructure, fiber optic network design/construction, pole attachment make-ready process, broadband network design, middle-mile optical networks, IP network peering, and general network operations
    • Track and incorporate the federal and state broadband rules as they pertain to capabilities, networks, and programs and initiatives in the community
    • Assist in the setting and management of broadband infrastructure budgets and funding programs
    • Voting member of Staff Committee – review grants and investments for approval
    • Identify and implement supply chain management strategies to assist statewide implementation of broadband deployment
    • Design, Deploy and Operate MCA’s Middle Mile Infrastructure strategy, including commercialization strategies
    • Assist in developing technical criteria for MCA’s various grant initiatives
    • Evaluate technical responses for MCA’s RFPs and grant applications
    • Verify/quantify MCA grantees completion and continued compliance with MCA’s grant specifications
    • Maintain, using internal and external resources, as-built records of MCA funded projects
    • Develop process and documentation standards for MCA and partner infrastructure projects


    • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of professional experience in broadband infrastructure operations and programs
    • 5+ years of experience in a managerial capacity
    • Technical knowledge of broadband, advanced communications infrastructure
    • Ability to analyze and interpret fiber measurement and test results including OTDR traces, CD and PMT tests
    • Strong data management skills, awareness of data governance and orientation towards data analysis
    • Knowledge of communications infrastructure industry solutions and willingness to learn about and to integrate new technologies into MCA programs
    • Intermediate skills with MS Office Suite, Google Workspace, and basic website content management systems, as well as financial management software
    • Experience with a CRM, such as Salesforce
