Chest Medicine Associates is seeking a Patient Care Technician to be based in the South Portland office. This is an excellent opportunity for new grads looking for an opportunity to enter the healthcare field or looking for experience through internship. On-the-job training provided!
Requirements of the Patient Care Technician:
- High school education or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Experience in patient care is preferred, but on-the-job training will be given to select candidates.
- Must be organized, efficient, and able to multi-task.
- Must enjoy working in a relatively fast-paced, professional, office environment.
- Must be able to communicate tactfully and effectively with patients, family members, coworkers, and physicians.
- Ability to stand and work on feet for long periods in a busy medical office environment.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.

Responsibilities of the Patient Care Technician:
- Open and close exam rooms.
- Keep exam rooms tidy, sanitized, and stocked.
- Politely and professionally escorts patients to an exam room.
- Obtain vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturation, etc.) and record them in the electronic health record.
- Administer questionnaires to patients.
- Record patients’ data and medications in electronic health record.
- Fax medical and equipment orders to other providers.
- Assist with form and paperwork completion.
- Assist with scheduling of appointments/testing/procedures as needed.
