Epilepsy Foundation of New England has a new opportunity for a full time Intake Specialist to join their team in Lowell, MA and will play a vital role in maintaining EFNE’s commitment to responsive, person-centered care and ensuring every caller feels heard, supported, and empowered. 
 
The Intake Specialist serves as the first point of contact for individuals and families reaching out to EFNE for information, resources, and support related to epilepsy and seizure disorders. This role is responsible for providing compassionate, accurate, and timely responses to phone, email, and online inquiries, and for connecting people to EFNE programs, community resources, and medical or social services as appropriate.

Requirements of the Intake Specialist:

    • Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, public health, or related field, or equivalent relevant healthcare experience 
    • Strong customer focused interpersonal, listening, and communication skills 
    • Demonstrated ability to respond with empathy, respect, and cultural sensitivity 
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort with CRM/client databases (Salesforce a plus) 
    • Knowledge of epilepsy, seizure disorders, or related health conditions is preferred 
    • Experience in case management, social services, or information/referral services 
    • Bilingual or multilingual skills preferred 

Responsibilities of the Intake Specialist:

    • Respond promptly and empathetically to help line calls, emails, and online requests
    • Conduct intake assessments to determine the needs of each individual or family
    • Utilizing existing resources, share information on medical disorders, first aid, treatment options, supports, and available programs 
    • Assess level of need and connect callers to internal services, such as support groups, or other expertise among staff 
    • Refer individuals to appropriate community, medical, and social service resources 
    • Utilize and maintain an up-to-date database, service providers, and support networks 
    • Document all interactions in client management system (Salesforce) 
    • Collaborate closely with programs and advocacy teams to ensure seamless referrals 
    • Coordinate follow-up communications with clients to ensure needs are met 
    • Identify patterns in client needs and share feedback to improve programs and outreach 
    • Track and report help line metrics, trends, and outcomes
