About the team and what we’ll build together
The Director of Software Engineering manages a development team across industry portfolios at Kobie. As a key component of our strategic roadmap and client implementations, the right candidate should have experience managing growth, development, and support for quality delivery of our technical solutions. You will report directly to the Sr. Director, Technology Delivery.
This role oversees Managers of Technology and a diverse team of skilled developers, ensuring effective resource planning, execution, and continuous professional growth. The ideal candidate excels at driving results, fostering team momentum, and creating solutions that align with business needs and technology best practices. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential for success in this position. The Director of Software Engineering will articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users and must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships with internal counterparts and prospect/client stakeholders throughout the product development cycles.
How you will make an impact
- Engage directly with both internal and external business stakeholders, serving as a bridge between business objectives and technical execution.
- Translate product-driven use cases into clear, actionable tasks for the development team, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Act as a key communication liaison, articulating technical decisions in business terms to enhance collaboration and understanding across teams.
- Elevate the team’s capabilities by mentoring developers in Java, JEE, Spring, Angular, .NET, HTML, and ATDD, fostering technical growth and high-quality deliverables.
- Drive software development best practices by contributing to the SDLC process, leading code reviews, and ensuring technical excellence across projects.
What you need to be successful
- Leadership & Team Development: 3+ years of people management experience, including performance management, team inspiration, strategy, and direction.
- Mentorship & Growth: Lead teams to produce high-quality work, elevate their technical capabilities through mentorship, and identify growth opportunities.
- Technical Expertise: 10+ years of hands-on experience in software development and testing within our technical stack, including Java, REST services, Spring, Angular, .NET, SQL, functional programming, and automated testing.
- Operational Excellence: Maintain complex, highly available software in production environments while meeting service level agreements (SLAs).
- Automation & Deployment: Drive CI/CD automation for efficient and reliable deployments.
- Incident Management: Technical expertise in overseeing production support with real-time issue/incident management and troubleshooting.
- Software Quality & Best Practices: Ensure high software quality through test-driven (TDD) and behavior-driven development (BDD) methodologies.
- Scalable & Maintainable Design: Apply and promote best practices in software design, including modularity, reusability, design patterns, interfaces, and communication protocols.
- Influential & Strategic Mindset: Be a technically savvy leader who can dive deep into Kobie’s ecosystem, influence stakeholders, and inspire teams to drive impactful change.
