Your Role
As Data Science Manager, you will be expected to bring a strong culture of algorithmic problem-solving and statistical modeling into KOKO’s business decisions across all functions and countries.

What You Will Do

    • Responsible for building the roadmap for Data Science projects for KOKO with conceptualization, planning and execution of high impact priorities
    • Responsible for building analytical systems, algorithms and predictive models, as well as experimenting with new models and techniques
    • Ensure that data projects align with organizational goals
    • Teach, lead, and counsel colleagues on new techniques and data-based solutions
    • Collaborate with data and software engineers to enable deployment of sciences and technologies that will scale across the company’s ecosystem
    • Responsible for overseeing teams of data scientists, data specialists and interns with scale-up

What You Will Bring to KOKO

    • Master's degree in Computer Science, Operations Research, Econometrics, Statistics or related technical field
    • 6 to 8 years of experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches
    • Experience communicating quantitative analysis results, especially to business stakeholders
    • Experience in managing, mentoring and coaching small teams

Technical skills expected in the role - must have

    • Programming: Python (Preferred) / R
    • Proficiency in relational databases and SQL querying
    • Proficiency in working with Excel / Google Sheets (knowledge of data read & write connectors)
    • Deep understanding and experience with implementing of ML models in at least some of the techniques from each of the following buckets: 
    • Regression: Linear, Logistic, Multinomial, Mixed effect
      Classification: Bagging & Boosting (Random Forest), Decision tree, SVM
      Clustering: K-Means, hierarchical, DB-Scan
      Time series: ARIMA, SARIMA, ARIMAX, Holt-Winters, Multi TS (VAR), UCM
      Neural Networks: RNN, CNN, (Deep learning), Naive Bayes
    • Dimensionality Reduction: PCA, SVD, etc.
    • Optimization Techniques: Linear programming, Gradient Descent, Genetic Algorithm
    • Cloud: Understanding of Azure / AWS offerings, Setting up ML pipeline in cloud

Technical skills expected in the role - nice to have

    • Visualization: Domo / Tableau / Power BI / Looker / QlikView
    • Data Management: HDFS, Spark, Advanced Excel
    • Agile Tools: Azure DevOps, JIRA
    • Development experience with PysparkBig Data/Hive Database
    • IDE: Pycharm
