About the Team
As Komaza’s Fleet Department, part of Business Operations, we work to support the value chains - from the motorcycles used by our Field Operations teams across the country, to trucks used by Harvest Operations and by sales, to deliveries from our nurseries for planting. We are data focused to ensure we are managing our fleet effectively, highly collaborative with all teams at Komaza, and focused on ensuring safe transportation of vehicles and staff in a cost effective manner.

About this Role
This role supports and coordinates Komaza’s fleet of vehicles across the country. This includes motorcycles used by the Field and Harvest teams, and coordination of trucks used by the Nursery and Harvest teams.  Primary responsibilities include maintaining vehicles for safe staff usage, coordinating delivery contractors, registering and licensing vehicles, ensuring on-time, safety-conscious, budget-friendly transportation of people, products, or materials. This role will report to the Procurement Specialist.

Where you’ll be Located
This role will be based in Naivasha, Kenya with up to 25% travel around the country.

What You Will Do

    • Overall:
    • Follow procedures to maximize productivity, reduce expenses, and minimize mistakes and waste; and 
    • Work with other managers to meet organizational and budgeting priorities.
    • Supervise junior fleet operations staff and mechanics across all regional business units.

    • Fleet:
    • Register and license all Komaza-owned motorcycles and motor vehicles.
    • Coordinate servicing of vehicles and motorcycles at all locations as needed to ensure staff safety. This includes monitoring service delivery and pricing, and maintaining records of vehicle servicing.
    • Ensure strict servicing and maintenance times to minimize downtime and maintain schedules.
    • Utilize GPS systems to monitor drivers and track both motorbikes and vehicles, monitor reporting and rider compliance with policies

    • Truck Coordination:
    • Schedule, route, maintain, and track transport motorbikes and vehicles.
    • Oversee transport suppliers to ensure we receive service according to agreed upon contract and on-time services.
    • Develop efficient delivery schedules to minimize costs.
    • Analyze data on the effectiveness of delivery operations.

What You Should Have

    • Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in Logistics or Procurement, with two+ years experience in logistics, or Diploma with three+ years experience in a Logistics role.
    • Must have experience in the transportation and logistics industry.
    • Membership in KISM or CIPS a plus
    • Experience either directly or indirectly managing team members 
    • Outstanding organizational skills.
    • Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills, with strong spreadsheet skills.
    • Ability to communicate and flag new policies to leadership, train, monitor and respond to reporting, and pay attention to details.
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication.
