Position Summary:Korro Bio is looking for a Senior Research Associate to join our small-scale high-throughput oligo synthesis team. This individual will work at the Cambridge, MA site performing solid-phase synthesis of novel and highly substituted oligonucleotides to support several internal programs.
 
Key Responsibilities:  
·       Solid-phase synthesis of highly substituted oligonucleotides using an automated synthesizer, such as a MerMade 192x and Dr. Oligo 48.·       Perform cleavage & deprotection of oligonucleotides and determine appropriate C&D parameters based on the chemistry of your samples.·       Purification, desalting, quantification, and lyophilization of oligonucleotides. ·       Analysis of oligonucleotide samples via direct-inject Mass spectrometry. Identify key impurities and plans future experiments to reduce or eliminate them.·       Maintenance of oligonucleotide synthesizer, Mass Spec., and desalting units in the laboratory.·       Keep meticulous records of data in the Electronic Lab Notebook.·       Communicate with other team members regarding shared resources, timelines, etc.
 
Required Qualifications:
·       Candidate will ideally have prior experience performing solid-phase synthesis, cleavage and deprotection, quantification, and characterization of oligonucleotides. Candidate should be familiar with the use of automated synthesizers. Familiarity with MerMade synthesizers and the MerMade 192 and Dr. Oligo 48 specifically is a plus.·       Candidate should have strong chemistry foundation and knowledge of typical oligonucleotide impurities, and the mechanisms for how they are formed.
 
Other Knowledge, Experience or Skills recommended
·       Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Chemdraw software.·       Detail oriented, self-motivated, someone who takes ownership, and willing to accept temporary work responsibilities outside of initial job description. ·       Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
