New Zealand’s leading agribusinesses and exporters are dealing with an ever-increasing level of internal and external complexity on a daily basis.
 
KPMG Propagate began as a start-up over a year ago to change the way we organise ourselves to serve these needs by combining industry experience with the independence and rigour of KPMG. We aim to be at the leading edge of thinking in the agribusiness sector, through our thought leadership, our support programmes and the relationships we hold with New Zealand’s leading agribusinesses and exporters. Our purpose is to Fuel New Zealand’s Prosperity by accelerating the competitiveness of New Zealand’s food and fibre sector. We support a range of industry organisations including Fieldays, Agri Women’s Development Trust, Te Hono, Agritech New Zealand and SPROUT to bring our purpose alive.
 
We are looking for people who are aligned in values, passionate about the food and fibre sector, and bring energy with different ways of thinking based on their experience.

The opportunity:

    • We provide services to New Zealand’s leading food and fibre businesses, which gives us unique insight into the challenges our clients are facing on a day-to-day basis.
    • Our national, cross functional professionals focus solely on understanding the issues faced by these organisations and develop tailored solutions to meet these challenges which has become more pronounced in recent years.
    • Our start-up is designed to change the way we organised ourselves and be responsive with the services we provide by combining industry expertise and experience with the consulting rigour KPMG is known for to enhance the trust, credibility and relevance we have with New Zealand industries.

Day to day you will:

    • Help businesses understand how geopolitical, macro-economic factors affect their organisations, which is often opaque due to their size and complexity
    • Contribute to our team efforts to establish long term mutually beneficial relationships with C-suite leaders of different industries to understand their aspirations how they achieve their growth ambitions or manage their risks since this is often not the sole the responsibility of any one individual
    • Contribute to the development of quality proposals
    • Manage the delivery of high-quality engagements with an excellent level of engagement management experience, analytical and problem-solving skills, written and verbal communication, and strong report writing skills
    • Contribute to the on-going enhancement, advancement, leadership and management of our people and culture. 

What you'll bring to our team:

    • As this is a dynamic area and often a high-trust situation with clients, we are looking for a team member who is comfortable with uncertainty, has a genuine passion for the sector with a strong set of values who is keen on helping us grow this area of KPMG’s business.
    • 4-7 years of consulting experience, with examples of managing projects and/or work-streams with a high level of autonomy
    • A good connection to/or foundation in New Zealand’s food and fibre sector (e.g. arable, aquaculture, horticulture etc. and an understanding of industry nuances)
    • Examples of projects where you have had a significant client facing role and overall budget management
    • Experience developing high-quality deliverables in PowerPoint and Excel
    • Excellent level of analytical and problem-solving skills and an ability to laterally and critically think
    • Excellent written and verbal communication, with examples of strong report writing skills
    • Demonstration of achieving successful outcomes for clients
    • Given the wide range of stakeholders we work with - which includes C-level executives, general management, or operational and technical experts - those with both a technical and business background would enjoy these challenges the most and will be the most effective.
    • 3+ years team leadership experience, demonstration of resource management
    • A tertiary qualification
