At KPMG New Zealand, the commitment to fuelling prosperity for all New Zealanders is central to our mission. We bring this purpose to life by adhering to our Code of Conduct and consistently demonstrating our shared Values of Integrity, Courage, Excellence, and Together, for Better.

The opportunity:

    • This opportunity is for a Senior Technical Business Analyst seconded to the AI Team where you will partner with business leaders and engineers to translate complex processes and policies into robust, testable requirements for AI-enabled solutions. You will lead structured discovery, define evaluation and acceptance criteria, support solution design and champion  governance so solutions are safe, compliant, and deliver measurable outcomes.

Day to day you will:

    • Lead discovery to map current and future state processes, decision points, and escalation paths, producing clear and reusable artefacts.
    • Translate business rules and policy into machine-readable specifications (e.g., decision tables, structured requirements, prompt/skill specifications).
    • Define evaluation datasets, success metrics, and adversarial tests to validate quality, safety, and reliability.
    • Partner with engineers to shape solution options, integrations, non-functional requirements, and test plans.
    • Prepare governance inputs (risk assessment, data classification, access/RBAC, privacy considerations) and track approvals to completion.
    • Plan and run UAT and pilot phases; coordinate training, comms and change activities to drive adoption.
    • Measure and report business impact (time, quality, cost) and agent performance (success and intervention rates).
    • Maintain a groomed backlog, RAID, and stakeholder communications, ensuring alignment and momentum.

About you:

    • AI first in your approach to work.
    • 5+ years’ experience as a Business Analyst (or Product BA) delivering technology-enabled change in complex environments.
    • Outstanding facilitation, requirements elicitation, and documentation skills; able to turn ambiguity into crisp, testable acceptance criteria.
    • Proven experience with AI/automation or data-driven solutions, including defining evaluation sets and measurable outcomes.
    • Working knowledge of enterprise platforms and data (e.g., Power Platform, Azure, ServiceNow, SharePoint/Fabric), APIs/connectors, and identity/RBAC concepts.
    • Familiar with AI governance, risk and compliance processes (privacy, data protection, DLP/labeling) and how they influence design and rollout.
    • Comfortable partnering closely with engineers and product owners; excellent communication with senior stakeholders.
    • A growth mindset: curious, pragmatic, and outcome focused.
    • Confidence with LLM/agent concepts (human-in-the-loop, prompt patterns, tool/skill design, telemetry, cost controls).
