About the role
We’re looking for a strategic and commercially minded Senior Category Manager to join our growing Procurement team in London. This is a high-impact role with cross-category responsibility, offering the opportunity to shape and deliver on our procurement strategy across multiple business functions (People, Talent, Facilities and Professional Services).This is a critical hire aimed at professionalising and optimising our procurement capabilities. You will take full ownership of multiple procurement categories, build strong supplier and senior stakeholder relationships, and lead initiatives to drive value, reduce costs, and embed procurement best practices throughout the business.
What you'll do
- Category Ownership: End-to-end category management across a range of areas including People, Talent, Facilities, and Professional Services.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute category strategies aligned to commercial priorities, business needs, and supplier opportunities.
- Procurement Delivery: Lead business-as-usual procurement activity such as new requests, contract renewals, and vendor negotiations.
- Vendor Management: Drive supplier rationalisation and consolidation activities to optimise costs and increase operational efficiency.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with functional leads and our senior management team to embed procurement strategy, support project delivery, and deliver maximum value in line with Kraken’s strategic initiatives.
- Work closely with our commercial team to ensure commercial partners are delivering value-add services to Kraken and share market knowledge and commercial expertise to facilitate collective delivery.
- Own supplier relationship management within your assigned categories, ensuring ongoing performance, compliance, and value delivery.
- Project Leadership: Support and/or lead key cross-functional initiatives such as contractor reviews, global office growth/relocation, and system rationalisation.
- Process Improvement: Embed procurement best practice, policy, and governance across the wider business.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: ensure adherence to cross-functional procedures as part of the procurement process, collaborating with Legal, Security, Privacy, Finance and subject matter experts.
What you'll need
- Proven experience in a cross-category procurement or category management role
- Track record of delivering cost savings and supplier performance improvements
- Strong commercial acumen and contract negotiation skills
- Strong experience in mitigating commercial risk and maximising commercial opportunity
- Ability to work autonomously while building strong collaborative relationships
- Strategic thinking with the ability to translate business needs into procurement actions
- Experience in a fast-paced, scaling business experience is preferred
