Who we are looking for:

We are looking for an Assistant Underwriter to support the Renewable Energy Core Property Insurance team through risk assessment, submission triage, clearance, agent/broker follow-up, modeling, and associated administrative support through the policy lifecycle. You will also be responsive to marketing, underwriting, retention, and service standards which support a quality book of business.

What you can look forward to:

    • Working closely with industry experts to build a new product line in a fast-growing insurtech company.
    • Evaluating applications for renewable energy property insurance and supporting Senior Underwriters with pricing, approvals, declinations, and policy administration.
    • Managing new business, renewals and endorsements.
    • Cross-functional interactions with senior management, business development, and data scientists.
    • Solving a critical bottleneck that is holding back the adoption of renewable energy.
    • Improving processes and driving efficiency.
    • Working with brokers and other industry professionals.
    • Responsible for the recording of policy risk characteristics and managing portfolios of projects.
    • Gathering data and preparing documents to support the business.
    • An equity stake in the company, via incentive stock options.
    • A wide variety of medical, dental, and vision plans. 401(k), HSA, FSA and corporate discounts.

What you likely need to do the job well:

    • Underwriting experience: You’re familiar with the ins and outs of P&C insurance, having worked in an underwriting support role or as an underwriter for 1-3 years writing all risk insurance coverage. Natural catastrophe underwriting experience and experience with Nat Cat modeling is a plus.
    • Critical thinker: You can quickly synthesize large volumes of (often conflicting) information, and develop a thesis. You can clearly articulate your proposal with supporting data.
    • Operational Capability: We are a startup and need people who are ready to get their hands dirty and are biassed towards action.
    • Self-starter: You can independently lead and manage projects. You know when to ask for help, but also trust your analytical frameworks.
    • A thinker and a doer: You can hold multiple stakeholders’ perspectives in your head, devise a solution, and then rapidly build consensus around that solution.
    • Customer service focus: You view and approach KWH partners with a relationship mindset being responsive and working together to solve problems.

Pay range:

    • Pay range: $33-36/hour + equity + benefits. At kWh Analytics, it's typical for external candidates to be hired near the middle of the pay range for their role.
