The Lansing School District serves over 10,000 PreK-12 students across 25 school buildings in the increasingly diverse urban community of Lansing, MI. Due to an odd number of sections for Post Oak's Middle Years Program, we need a teacher who is excited and willing to teach a combination of sections of core subjects (Math, Science, ELA, and Social Studies). This role will require a tremendous amount of flexibility, but it will be an exciting opportunity to get involved with one of the District's most unique programs.

Qualifications - Education & Certification

    • Bachelor's degree required
    • Michigan Teacher Certification with the capacity to teach at least three core subjects. This can be satisfied with a K-8 general education endorsement (i.e. ZG) or multiple secondary endorsements (i.e. RX, DI, and BX).

Qualifications - Experience

    • Previous experience serving students in an urban school setting

Qualifications - Skills & Knowledge

    • High degree of flexibility and interest in teaching multiple subjects at once
    • Ability to plan multiple lessons each day
    • Ability to collaborate with other teachers and staff members effectively
    • Mandarin Chinese fluency would be nice, but is not required
    • Deep commitment to the Lansing School District's mission and vision

    • Must be able to move throughout the building and campus, including classrooms, hallways, and outdoor spaces.
    • Frequent verbal communication is required to instruct students, lead meetings, and collaborate with staff and families.
    • May be required to stand or walk for extended periods, including during supervisory duties.
    • Occasional bending, reaching, or sitting on the floor to interact with students.
    • Regular use of computers and instructional technology for planning, instruction, and communication.
    • Must be able to lift or carry instructional materials and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.

$48,585 - $95,000 a year
