The Lansing School District serves over 10,000 PreK-12 students across 25 school buildings in the increasingly diverse urban community of Lansing, MI. Support staff to provide peer to peer academic and life skill support to Summer School Students.  Support staff will co-facilitate SEL small group lessons, teach leadership skills (i.e. college readiness, resume skills, interview skills etc).

Preferred Qualifications

    • Interested in building caring relationships with teens toward personal and professional development
    • Comfortable inviting and answering questions, and are good listeners
    • Open to working with students from diverse backgrounds

Minimum Qualifications

    • Pass all classes, both semesters of current grade.
    • Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities
    • Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision
    • Strong organizational and communication skill
    • Preferred high school student with strong recommendation from high school principal
$17 - $17 an hour
You have to be a current high school student to be accepted into this position.

Mentors are responsible for gaining their mentees’ trust and confidence; while being responsible for leading, implementing and assisting with the planning of daily activities, programming and experiences for students in small and large group settings. They will be responsible for the general safety and development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants in their group.

This role is for current high school students only.
