The Lansing School District seeks a qualified candidate to provide leadership and high- quality instruction to high school students studying Health Sciences. This exciting role at Lansing Technical High School is responsible for delivering a State-approved curriculum; working closely with community partners; ordering supplies, equipment, and materials; and the overall management and operation of the various associated training programs
Qualifications - Education & Certification
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Occupationally endorsed teaching certificate in Health Sciences CIP 51.0000 OR meets requirements for ACA in CIP 51.0000; AND Individuals who have instructional responsibility in fields for which an industry, state or federal license is required, shall hold the appropriate license before requesting occupational endorsement or authorization, so additional certifications preferred like: CNA, PCT, MA, RN
Qualifications - Experience
- Delivery of direct patient care.
- Providing long-term and/or short-term care
- Demonstrated proof of leadership and managerial skills
- Teaching/training health care, patient care, and/or emergency care
- Preferred experience: Working with high school-age students and diverse student populations
- Preferred experience: Nursing (with a registered nursing license in the State of Michigan)

- Collaborating with faculty and staff for the collective success of students, school, and community
- Maintaining an active and vibrant advisory committee
- Managing the learning environment by developing, scheduling, and delivering relevant activities, diagnosing student learning difficulties, providing corrective action, and monitoring and reporting student progress
- Ensuring educational laboratory and equipment is maintained in such a manner as to continuously offer an effective instructional environment.
Sample Job Responsibilities
- Design, prepare, and deliver curriculum content that:
- Is in alignment with the State of Michigan and the Lansing School District curriculum constructs.
- Supports student learning through a variety of delivery methods: project-based learning, online, and in person.
- Incorporates equipment and technology current to education models.
- Supports programs’ focus on preparing students for post-secondary education experiences such as PBL, Equity, Inclusion, Restorative Practices, Distinguished teacher pedagogical knowledge, etc.
- Incorporates cross-curricular concepts of Math, English, and Science.
- Maintain an instructional environment that:
- Promotes learning opportunities for all.
- Provides for an equitable and balanced assessment of student achievement by a variety of methods.
- Promotes individual student responsibility and accountability.
- Instruct students by lecturing, demonstrating, and using audiovisual aids and other materials to supplement presentations.
- Remain current with reporting requirements, trends, and changes in CTE education and Magnet.
- Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, advisory meetings, and teacher training workshops.
- Facilitate work-based learning experiences for students (field trips, job shadows, internships, job placement).
- Co-plan and delive, with CTE administration and magnet staff, various training and professional development activities.
- Assist CTE administration and magnet staff in establishing and implementing school-wide public relations, marketing, and recruiting program that promotes CTE, highlights the work of students, and targets potential enrollees (including Open House programs, annual promotional programs, individual and group demonstrations, and information sessions).
$46,942 - $95,000 a year
Salary will reflect proper placement on LSEA scale, which depends on education and years of experience in similar roles. For individuals coming from industry, years of managerial experience will be rewarded.
