In pursuit of this mission, we are hiring elementary teachers. This individual will ensure our students receive world-class instruction in a safe and welcoming environment. Teachers must work to build inclusive, nurturing classrooms where students can be themselves and work collaboratively towards common learning goals. Teachers will work alongside other teachers, parents, and students to ensure they are providing the best educational experience to all students.

Position Overview

    • Lansing Public Schools is seeking an exceptional Gifted & Talented Teacher with deep content knowledge and expertise in Reading and Math.
    • The ideal candidate is a dynamic educator who is passionate about challenging and inspiring gifted learners, fostering a culture of critical thinking, inquiry, and problem-solving. Grade levels and positions will be based on enrollment.
    • Hours: 2:45 pm - 4:15 pm
    • Dates: October 14, 2025, through April 23, 2026, 2x per week (Tuesday/Thursday).

Key Responsibilities

    • Deliver high-level, conceptually rich reading and mathematics instruction tailored to gifted and talented students as prescribed.
    • Utilize inquiry-based, problem-solving, and discovery-driven instructional approaches to cultivate deep understanding.
    • Encourage students to engage in higher-order thinking, abstract reasoning, and modeling.
    • Foster an interactive, student-centered classroom environment that promotes collaboration and discourse.
    • Communicate regularly with parents and administrators regarding student progress.
    • Provide ongoing feedback to the program coordinator.
    • Keep accurate records.
    • Be present for the extent of the program

Qualifications

    • State teaching certification (required),
    • Mathematics endorsement (preferred),
    • Reading endorsement (preferred).
    • Proven track record of success in teaching mathematics and reading.
    • Demonstrated ability to engage, inspire, and challenge students at an advanced level.
    • Strong knowledge of mathematical problem-solving strategies, reasoning, and modeling.
    • Strong knowledge of developing reading comprehension skills and a deep understanding of advanced text.
    • Exceptional ability to foster intellectual curiosity, independent thinking, and creativity.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and faculty.
$31 - $31 an hour
The program will be 3 hours per week plus .5 hr prep work per week.
