The Operations Project Specialist, specifically related to transportation, is responsible for coordinating and managing student transportation services for the Lansing School District. This role involves handling transportation requests, overseeing outsourced transportation providers, and serving as a liaison between the district, families, and schools to ensure safe, efficient, and effective transportation solutions. This will require strong data skills as well as strong verbal, phone, and email communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in operations in an educational setting.
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in transportation management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to student transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience working in education transportation
    • Experience working with outsourced transportation providers.
    • Familiarity with special education transportation requirements and services.

Responsibilities - Transportation Management

    • Manage and process student transportation requests, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
    • Work with Vendor to develop and maintain transportation schedules and routes, adjusting as needed to meet the needs of the district.
    • Ensure compliance with all district policies and state regulations regarding student transportation.

Responsibilities - Vendor Coordination

    • Facilitate regular meetings with outsourced transportation companies to review performance and address issues.
    • Monitor and evaluate the performance of transportation providers, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations and service standards.
    • Resolve any conflicts or issues that arise with transportation vendors promptly and effectively.

Responsibilities - Communication

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for transportation-related inquiries from families, schools, and district staff.
    • Share information about transportation services, policies, and schedules with families and schools through various communication channels.
    • Develop and distribute transportation updates, notifications, and newsletters to keep stakeholders informed.

Responsibilities - Data Management and Reporting

    • Maintain accurate records of transportation requests and transportation issues.
    • Analyze transportation data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
    • Prepare and present reports on transportation operations, performance, and metrics to Chief Operating Officer.
$50,022 - $59,896 a year
