In pursuit of this mission, we are hiring a Middle School ELA Teacher for North. This individual will ensure our 6th-8th grade students receive world-class English language arts instruction. Our teachers must also work to build safe, nurturing classrooms where students can be themselves and work collaboratively towards common learning goals. Teachers will work alongside other teachers, parents, and students to ensure they are providing the best education experience to all students.

Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in ELA education or related field (English, writing, creative writing, etc.)
    • Alignment with Lansing School District's mission and values

Preferred Qualifications

    • Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate with secondary ELA endorsement (will be required to enroll in program if don't currently possess)
    • Previous successful ELA teaching experience in urban setting

Job Responsibilities

    • Demonstrate passion for and expertise of middle school ELA content
    • Provide world-class instruction in various ELA content areas to middle school students
    • Use data to guide and effectively differentiate instruction
    • Learn and grow by incorporating feedback from school leaders, colleagues, students, and professional development sessions
    • Build relationships with students and parents to ensure a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment
    • Other duties as assigned to best support the Lansing School District mission
