With multiple awards to our name, Larian Studios has proven that we’re dedicated to delivering high-quality role-playing games As we move on to new projects, the studio that brought you Baldur’s Gate 3 & Divinity: Original Sin 2 is looking for a Junior Scripter to join the team and help us in crafting the high calibre games our fans have come to expect.

At Larian, the Gameplay Scripting team plays a central role in breathing life into our projects. Scripters collaborate with a range of Larian teams, from Cinematics to Writing, to implement and augment the narrative vision - using our proprietary tools and game editor. Gameplay Scripting truly defines the player experience in a Larian game - by ensuring every decision made has depth, consequence and resonance. 

Responsibilities

    • Take internal narrative pitches and analyze them, to create potential gameplay sequences that prioritise player agency and a fun experience
    • Collaborate closely with the Worldbuilding team, iterating game content in collaboration with other teams like writing, narrative, other design departments, etc.
    • Plan the implementation of content, or work from existing designs - and complete the implementation using our proprietary game editor and internal scripting languages. 
    • Align with the Lead Scripter and Senior Producer on priorities and deadlines

Requirements

    • Analytical skills to review complex documentation and identify important pieces, devise solutions to layered problems
    • Creative Game Design skills - keeping the player experience front and center, showing an ability to innovate and iterate consistently with feedback.
    • Technical skills - proficiency in game development software, and/or writing adaptable, easy to maintain code 
    • Collaborative skills - enjoys collaboration with a diverse range of teams, and can influence positively 
    • Must be willing to work onsite
    • Fluent in English, both written and spoken

Nice to haves

    • Experience developing or modding games, ideally RPG genre
    • Experience with running or participating in ‘DnD’ or other tabletop RPGs
    • Experience with scripting or programming  languages (Lua, Python, C++ etc.)
