Last Energy Netherlands is seeking a Managing Director. The successful candidate will be a natural executive and have a strong track record of personal accomplishment at senior levels in the energy or heavy industry sector, ideally with experience working within non-nuclear energy segments (offshore wind, oil and gas, storage, batteries, etc.) or large industrial infrastructure projects. Direct experience leading projects from term sheets through permitting and regulatory approval, and to Commercial Online Date is highly desirable. The Managing Director will require the ability to work successfully with a range of stakeholders including government, regulatory bodies, and officials. Excellent communication skills, including the confidence to maintain a robust regulatory position when required, will also be important. The successful candidate will have a proactive and agile leadership style with the ability to listen, engage, and collaborate to enable the organization to deliver its challenging remit.

Key Responsibilities

    • Lead Last Energy Netherlands as an influential, capable, and credible body in the Dutch energy industry, and gain the confidence of the industry across the entire value and supply chain, including customers, service suppliers, governments (at all levels and across all relevant departments), and other stakeholders
    • Determine relevant business strategies, priorities, and plans that underpin project development and delivery for first-of-a-kind to nth-of-a-kind energy projects
    • Lead commercial contracting and customer relationships from identification through contract close
    • Work with US-based Last Energy leadership to grow the Netherlands program 
    • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key senior stakeholders across government, project & supply chain partners, community leaders, media, and potential customers
    • Provide briefings to advise key Last Energy leadership on all major and key issues, anticipating areas of scrutiny, highlighting issues and potential solutions to enable effective outcomes

Key Qualifications

    • Direct experience with project development and legal/regulatory processes, such as local permitting, environmental impact assessments, interconnection agreements, land optioning, and acquisition
    • Experience with relevant financial and policy mechanisms, such as power-purchase agreements and supplier contract negotiations
    • Possesses a proactive mindset, excels in creative problem-solving, building relationships, and clear communication.
    • Relationships with Netherlands-based companies that will support business development and key government institutions (such as EZK - I&W - Tweede Kamer) a plus
    • Requires +15 years of relevant experience in energy sales or project development
    • Based in the Netherlands and fluent in both Dutch and English
