Last Energy NL seeks a Regulatory Director to spearhead our efforts in navigating the nuclear licensing process in the Netherlands. This candidate will report to Last Energy’s Global Head of Licensing and will drive the progress of micro-nuclear power projects, and ultimately, near-term decarbonization. Previous experience in the nuclear industry is highly valued, but not required; we invite applications from individuals who bring fresh perspectives and challenge conventional thinking.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

    • Provide strategic leadership in developing and executing a Netherlands licensing roadmap, with the goal of licensing a plant within two years
    • Act as the primary point of contact between Last Energy and the Netherlands nuclear regulatory network, including the Authority for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection (ANVS), COVRA, and other relevant central government bodies
    • Lead the preparation and quality check the submission of regulatory filings, license applications, and safety cases, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
    • Act as the main point of contact for Dutch 3rd party licensing firms, managing budgets, schedules, and deliverable quality
    • Monitor and address regulatory issues and concerns raised by internal and external stakeholders, and proactively identify and mitigate regulatory risks
    • Develop an efficient regulatory practice, fostering a culture of challenging established norms, creativity, and extreme ownership

Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field
    • Advanced degree preferred
    • Strong communication skills, championing simplicity and clarity in all communication
    • Strong project management skills, including management of third-party technical service providers
    • Strong understanding of nuclear safety principles, risk assessment methodologies, and regulatory compliance requirements
    • Demonstrated leadership and management capabilities
    • Alignment with Last Energy’s simplified approach to regulatory compliance
    • Well-regarded by peers in key stakeholder organizations
